Pretty soon you won’t be able to escape it.

Have no fear, Deco’s monthly concert forecast is here. It calls for variety with only a 20% chance of a jolly jingle.

Get ready to rock and to dance.

Bleachers, The Black Keys, and Jelly Roll are just some of the big names hitting the stage at this year’s Riptide Music Festival.

It’s all going down on Fort Lauderdale Beach, Dec. 2 and 3.

Two-day and single day ticket options are available. Just don’t forget to grab some sunscreen.

What’s better than one Bruno Mars concert? Two bruno mars concerts, of course.

The R&B superstar is playing back-to-back shows at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood on Dec. 7 and 8.

Just one catch though, no phones or smart watches allowed.

Let’s party like it’s 1998.

Miss Lauryn Hill is hitting the road to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her hit album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” and you know she’s just gotta come to Miami.

She’s not coming alone though. Her hip-hop trio, the Fugees, will be here too.

Catch them all at the Kasaya Center on Dec. 10.

Flo Rida and Soflo? It’s just a match made in heaven.

Flo is just one of the many artists playing at this year’s Y-100 Jingle Ball. Ludacris and Marshmallo will be there too.

It’s all going down at the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise on Dec. 16.

Deck the halls with Leann Rimes.

The country superstar is bringing her “Joy” holiday tour to the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Knight Concert Hall.

She’ll be performing both classic Christmas tunes and some of her original songs. Leann’s beating Kris Kringle to Miami by a couple of days.

This one’s happening on Dec. 21.

Stars of ‘Trolls: Band Together’ hit purple carpet at Los Angeles premiere of animated sequel https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/stars-of-trolls-band-together-hit-purple-carpet-at-los-angeles-premiere-of-animated-sequel/ Fri, 17 Nov 2023 03:17:58 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1382334 The stars were out in L.A. last night, and I’m not just talking about the ones in the sky! The cast of “Trolls: Band Together” banded together for a night out on the town … and a first look at their new movie.

Anna Kendrick (as Queen Poppy, voice): “Come on, guys, it’s time!”

Time to hit the red carpet, that is! Or, in this case, the purple one.

No trolling here. The cast of “Trolls: Band Together” cleaned up real nice for a special screening of the film in L.A.

Anna Kendrick (as Queen Poppy, voice): “I can’t believe this is really happening!”

And with a title like that, it’s only fitting to have a little NSYNC reunion. After all, the guys have a new song in the movie.

NSYNC: “If you let me show the way, I’m so excited to see you excited.”

Joey Fatone: “It was cool. You know, we were asked to be a part of it again. The song fits together with the whole storyline and everything else. It was like, why not? It was meant to be.”

Chris Kirkpatrick: “This is just something that the five of us get to do and hang out again, and when we’re back together, it’s just like old times.”

The guys from NSYNC weren’t the only boy band-ers in the house.

AJ McLean: “We have generations that still love boy bands, and the fact that that’s kind of the epicenter of this film is just genius.”

Joey Fatone: “It’s a fun throwback to a lot of different songs. Obviously, you got Backstreet Boys stuff, you got NSYNC. Every kind of boy band you could think of is in there. Exactly, even New Kids.”

Now that we’ve covered the music, we’ve gotta talk about the voices.

Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Zooey Deschanel are back for their third stint in the “Trolls” franchise.

Zooey Deschanel: “It’s fun. It’s colorful. It’s the characters we all love.”

Christopher Mintz-Plasse: “I just want people to go see it, and I feel like now you’re gonna have the kids go see it, and you’re gonna have all the moms who are big NSYNC fans, they’re going to go see it now. And hopefully, we can make a fourth one.”

Eric André is a newcomer to the “Trolls” universe, and he’s feeling pretty animated about the whole thing.

Eric André: “I love doing cartoons. I love the ‘Trolls’ franchise. It’s like there’s a ton of stuff for kids, obviously, but there’s, like, secret jokes for adults in it, which is the best cartoons.”

Eric André (as John Dory, voice): “We still got it.”

Anna Kendrick (as Queen Poppy, voice): “Looks like your band days aren’t behind you. Rrrr.”

“Trolls: Band Together” is now playing in theaters.

NightGarden’s 5th year at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden features more lights, new installations https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/nightgardens-5th-year-at-fairchild-tropical-botanic-garden-features-more-lights-new-installations/ Sat, 11 Nov 2023 04:20:33 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1380055 Dua Lipa once said, “Baby, you can find me under the lights,” and those are words I took to heart. Some people out there are already putting their Christmas lights up, but tonight, Deco’s looking to deck the halls in a different way. The NightGarden is back, and we’re dashing off to SoFlo’s own whimsical wonderland.

When the sun goes down in SoFlo, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables…

Archie the Talking Tree: “Welcome to the NightGarden. I’ve always wanted to say that on Deco Drive.”

…comes alive! The NightGarden is back for its fifth year.

Nannette Zapata: “When you step into NightGarden at Fairchild, you’re stepping into a wonderland. You’re stepping into an experience, an immersive experience.”

And it’s brighter than ever before.

Daniel Wu: “This year we have over two to three thousand different types of lights. And fun fact, this is the most lights there’s ever been for a NightGarden.”

NightGarden is known for its dazzling, colorful lights, and this year, there’s even more cool areas to explore.

Nannette Zapata: “We have about seven or eight new installations, new activations, including a fairy village.”

Daniel Wu: “There’s different triggers and special effects that, as you walk through it, you basically change the lighting.”

Dorothy’s yellow brick road has got nothing on this rainbow walkway.

Another new addition: the linear palm trees.

Daniel Wu: “From a distance, it looks like a pencil drawing, right? It looks like a line that comes down with our rope lights.”

It wouldn’t be the NightGarden without Archie, the famous talking tree

Archie the Talking Tree: “I’m not going anywhere. I’ve been around for 135 years.”

One hundred and thirty-five years? OK, drop the skin care routine!

Archie the Talking Tree: “Well, I use Oil of Olay. It can help you look younger, too. It’s great.”

Turns out, Archie is also a huge Deco Drive fan.

Archie the Talking Tree: “Lynn and Shireen, muchos besos y abrazos.”

Archie’s not the only returning favorite. The Rainbow Rainforest will make you feel like you’ve been transported to another world.

And these giant spinning lanterns are totally enchanting.

No wonderland is complete without a little adventure.

Nannette Zapata: “When you come to NightGarden at Fairchild, you find magic.”

And that’s where the Fairyscope app comes into play.

Daniel Wu: “It is an augmented reality app. You can download it once you’re on site, and then you’re on a scavenger hunt around the entire garden.”

Fairies, lights, magic, and Archie the Talking Tree?! Count me in!

The NightGarden is open now thru Jan. 7. Tickets start at $25.

Local chefs give sneak peek at dishes they’re featuring at 10th South Florida Seafood Festival https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/local-chefs-give-sneak-peek-at-dishes-theyre-featuring-at-10th-south-florida-seafood-festival/ Fri, 10 Nov 2023 05:46:37 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1379704 Seafood is a delicacy here in SoFlo, and it’s not hard to sea why. Being surrounded by water has its perks, and one of them is the South Florida Seafood Festival. Here’s a sneak peek.

There’s no need to “go fish” at the South Florida Seafood Festival, because they’ve got plenty to go around.

Sarah Porter: “South Florida Seafood Festival is back for its 10th year in a row. It’s iconic, 10th-year anniversary, in the heart of Coconut Grove at Regatta Park. It’s an amazing, family-focused, community-centric event with a lot for everyone to see and do.”

This year’s event, presented by Swarm, features tons of live entertainment and over 30 seafood pop-ups serving up all kinds of delicious dishes from under the sea.

Samuel E. Wright (as Sebastian, singing): “Under the sea, under the sea!”

But it’s not just about eating and drinking.

Sarah Porter: “One really cool component that we have is called Kitchen Lab, where we have all kinds of chefs from all over South Florida on stage presenting some iconic dishes.”

One of those chefs is Ari Taymor from Pez Loco in Wynwood!

Chef Ari Taymor: “We take a lot of inspiration from the west coast of Mexico, and we like to filter that through the use of local Florida ingredients.”

Deco got a sneak peek of the dish he’ll be teaching folks how to make at the festival.

Chef Ari Taymor: “We’re gonna be demo-ing our Sinaloan shrimp cocktail. It’s very lightly oil-poached fresh Gulf shrimp and a green salsa made from different chilis, tomatillos and green onion.”

Add some avocado, and you’re good to go.

Chef Ari Taymor: “It’s something that is like a restaurant-quality dish, but it’s also created to allow people to make it at home. We want everybody to understand what we’re doing, to be able to share the food that we’re super passionate about, and we’re super excited for that.”

Over at Caja Caliente in Coral Gables, Chef Mika Leon is cooking up Cuban comfort food.

And she’s ready to share her food at the festival.

Chef Mika Leon: “I am extremely excited to be part of the seafood festival this weekend. We’re ready to showcase our seafood and just flavors that we grew up eating and that we make at the restaurant.”

That’s why she’s going with a classic for her Kitchen Lab presentation.

Chef Mika Leon: “I’m going to be making tostones rellenos de camarones enchilados. It’s using fresh shrimp, and it’s made in a sofrito tomato-based sauce, and it’s gonna be homemade tostones rellenos.”

Chef Mika puts it all together by stuffing the tostones with avocado and topping it all with the shrimp. Think of it as happiness in a little edible bowl.

Chef Mika Leon: “It’s something that’s very tropical, Miami, Cuban and authentic, and I think they’re really gonna enjoy it.”

Wanna make a splash this weekend? We’re giving away four VIP tickets to the South Florida Seafood Festival this Sunday, Nov. 12, at Regatta Park in Coconut Grove. For a chance to win, send your name and phone number to giveaways@wsvn.com.

Showtime https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/showtime-364/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 22:15:47 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1378021 Trick or treat! OK, so Halloween is over, but don’t be bummed. This week’s Showtime is full of treats, and that’s no trick.

Ari Cohen (as Paul Beaulieu): “What is the intent here, Mr. Presley? You’ve got women throwing themselves at you. Why my daughter?”

Jacob Elordi (as Elvis Presley): “Well, sir, I happen to be very fond of your daughter.”

They’re all shook up! Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s love story is front and center in Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla.”

The film, starring Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny, is based on the real Priscilla’s memoir, “Elvis and Me,” and it explores the famous couple’s relationship, from their first meeting and marriage to their eventual divorce. We finally see their story from Priscilla’s point of view.

Bella Thorne (as Ziva): “This crisis has a name: Divinity.”

Sci-fi meets horror in “Divinity.” The movie revolves around a serum for immortality and the man who controls it.

Problem is, the drug affects fertility, and that’s bad news for the planet. The movie stars Bella Thorne and Stephen Dorff.

Daisy Ridley (as Helena Pelletier: “What are you doing in my house?”

Garrett Hedlund (as Stephen Pelletier): What’s going on?”

Yanna McIntosh (as Agent Lorna Illing: “Your father, Jacob Holbrook. When was the last time you spoke to him?”

Daisy Ridley (as Helena Pelletier): “When I was 10 years old.”

The past comes back to haunt Daisy Ridley in the psychological thriller “The Marsh King’s Daughter.” She plays a young woman who spent her childhood in captivity.

When her estranged, kidnapper father breaks out of prison, she’s gotta use everything she knows to outmaneuver the man who taught her how to survive in the wilderness.

Julia Michael (as Cinnameg, voice): “We’ve gotta launch Santa’s sleigh before that storm hits.”

Character in “Glisten and the Merry Mission”: “I don’t suppose you know where to find another reindeer.”

Tinity Bliss (as Marzipan, voice): “Glisten.”

‘Tis the season! And sometimes, that means chaos.

Christmas is in trouble in the new animated film “Glisten and the Merry Mission,” and it’s up to one little elf to find the magic and save the day.

Airport employee on intercom: “Attention, Boston and Austin passengers. Those flights have been delayed until further notice.”

Meg Ryan (as Willa): “Just those two flights?”

David Duchovny (as Bill): “Just us.”

Airport employee on intercom: “Yes.”

Meg Ryan (as Willa): “That’s…”

Meg Ryan (as Willa) and David Duchovny (as Bill): “Unbelievable.”

What happens at the airport, ends up on the big screen, especially when Meg Ryan and David Duchovny are involved.

In “What Happens Later,” the two stars play exes who get stranded at an airport together after meeting again for the first time in years. Will sparks start flying?

Meg Ryan (as Willa): “If we could see our memories in advance, would we do anything different?”

David Duchovny (as Bill): “Please don’t ruin this.”

‘Thanksgiving in a cup’: Salt & Straw turns traditional holiday dishes into tasty ice cream flavors https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/thanksgiving-in-a-cup-salt-straw-turns-traditional-holiday-dishes-into-tasty-ice-cream-flavors/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 04:17:35 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1377941 It’s November, so you know what that means: turkey time, baby!

Thanksgiving is slowly creeping up on us, but you don’t have to wait until the end of the month to get a taste. Deco’s checking out a spot that scooping up some fall flavors.

Woody Harrelson (as Woody Boyd): “Hey, you guys, this is Thanksgiving, and I still say this is gonna be the greatest.”

So much for wishful thinking. But if you want to make sure your thanksgiving ends on a sweet note instead of a food fight, Salt & Straw on Lincoln Road has you covered.

Frank Hernandez-Lara: “We’re doing a Thanksgiving feast in the form of ice cream.”

Oh, like traditional dessert, right?

: “We’ll have a dinner roll ice cream. We have a turkey stuffing/cranberry sauce flavor. We have mango pie. We also have a pumpkin gingersnap pie, and we have a cheesy potato casserole.”

Turkey stuffing as ice cream?! OK, we’ll get back to that main course.

But first, the sides.

The Parker House Rolls With Salted Buttercream ice cream definitely won’t put you to sleep.

Melanie Trujillo: “It tasted like a caramel cake, almost. It tasted very salt and sweet. It was actually really good; you didn’t have to tell me twice to keep eating it, honestly.”

And, when it comes to the cheesy potato casserole…

Melanie Vega: “The first thing that I instantly tasted was cheese, a little bit of cheese and then the potato, ’cause there’s little bits of potato in it. I thought it was good.”

Being an adult means you can eat dessert first.

Melissa Trujillo: “Today I tried the mango pie ice cream, and I went with that choice because I love mango, I tried it, and it was actually really yummy.”

OK, no more stalling. It’s turkey stuffing and cranberry sauce time.

Don’t all dig in at once.

Melissa Trujillo: “When I first tried it, it was just sausage. But then the cranberry came in and it made it all flow together.”

Melanie Vega: “You definitely do taste the stuffing. There is definitely big piece of the stuffing in it, but you also taste the cranberry.”

Melanie Trujillo: “You have to come try it, just so you can say that you did, just so you can say that you had Thanksgiving in a cup.”

Maty’s, Peruvian spot in Midtown, becomes only Florida restaurant to make Bon Appétit’s 2023 list https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/matys-peruvian-spot-in-midtown-becomes-only-florida-restaurant-to-make-bon-appetits-2023-list/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 03:51:38 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1377934 Being the best at something takes a lot of hard work, and one SoFlo restaurant knows how to be the best. Deco’s checking out a spot in Midtown climbing to the top of the foodie “it” list.

Its name may be short and sweet.

Chef Valerie Chang: “Maty’s is a modern Peruvian restaurant that’s in the heart of Midtown. It was inspired by my grandmother Martha.”

But big things are happening at this SoFlo restaurant.

Chef Valerie Chang: “In the last few months, my brother Nando and I got named Food & Wine Best New Chefs for 2023. Maty’s was on the Bon Appétit top 24 restaurants of 2023, and we also made the 50 best New York Times list this year.”

Deco caught up with Bon Appétit’s Kate Kassin to get the scoop on why Maty’s is the only restaurant in Florida to make the cut.

Kate Kassin: “What I love about their restaurants is just like how important the family aspect is to it. And I mean, it’s a beautiful space, and the food’s delicious, but I think you really feel like it’s a space to celebrate.”

When it comes to the food, Maty’s is all about bringing a taste of Peru to the 3-0-5, but with a unique twist.

Chef Valerie Chang: “These dishes are inspired by traditional Peruvian dishes, but on the eye of someone who left Peru 21 years ago and has been in South Florida, learning about our seasonality, learning about our ingredients, learning about what we offer the table, and marrying the two together.”

That means the menu features dishes like the raw grouper tiradito and the oxtail saltado.

Chef Valerie Chang: “The oxtails are braised for about eight hours, and then they get stir-fried in the wok, and then they’re served on top of Peruvian crispy potatoes.”

Sofia Bodniza: “My favorite thing was the oxtail. Oxtail was incredible. And the tiradito. Very, very good, fresh. Really, really good.”

And you can’t go wrong with the restaurant’s signature fish dish.

Chef Valerie Chang: “Our whole roasted dorade, it’s fire-roasted, and then it goes on top of an aji amarillo beurre blanc.”

Kate Kassin: “You either need a spoon or something to make sure that you sop up every single last drop.”

Sofia Bodniza: “This menu is unlike any other menu I’ve seen. Like everything is super detailed, and you can tell that everything is made with just so much love.”

Maluma, Pink and Travis Scott among high-profile acts coming to SoFlo in concert in November https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/maluma-pink-and-travis-scott-among-high-profile-acts-coming-to-soflo-in-concert-in-november/ Thu, 02 Nov 2023 01:14:07 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1377097 It’s November 1st, so you know what that means: Christmas music is about to take over the airwaves. But if you’re not ready to jingle those bells or rock around the Christmas tree, Deco’s got a look at who’ll be hitting the high notes in SoFlo this month.

Maluma (singing): “A ti te gusta cuando te canto a capella, Mucho sudor, mucho alcohol y poca cela. Es que este ritmo lo bailamos flow favela.”

Get ready to dance the night away with Maluma, baby! The Latin superstar is bringing his Don Juan Tour to the Kaseya Center on Nov. 4.

He’s not the only big name performing at the iconic Magic City arena this month…

Enrique Iglesias (singing): “Baby, I like it, I-I-I like it. Baby, I like it.”

The ultimate SoFlo trio is hitting the stage together: Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull and their pal Ricky Martin.

Ricky Martin (singing): “Livin’ la vida loca. She’ll push and pull you down, livin’ la vida loca.”

They’re playing back-to-back shows on Nov. 10 and 11 as part of their Trilogy Tour, and that is one fiesta you’re not gonna wanna miss.

Pink (singing): “I’m never gonna not dance again. Oh, I just wanna pop and lock to my records.”

Also hitting up at the Kaseya Center: Pink! And, if there’s one thing she knows how to do, it’s put on an amazing show.

You can catch her there on Nov. 14, but if that doesn’t work for you, Pink’s also going to be at the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise on the 15th.

DJ Paul D (singing): “I just do it for myself. I just do it for myself. I do me, I do it well.”

A taste of the Jersey Shore is coming to Miami Beach. DJ Pauly D is ready to drop the beat at LIV Nightclub in the Fontainebleau Hotel. You can catch his sets starting at 11 p.m. on Nov. 18 and 19.

Doja Cat (rapping): “I said what I said, I’d rather be famous instead. I let all that get to my head. I don’t care, I paint the town red.”

Back at the Kaseya Center, Doja Cat is ready to paint Miami red. Her Scarlet Tour makes a SoFlo stop on Nov. 21.

Travis Scott (rapping): “Rather you leave, then you go back out on me. Don’t throw no daggers at me.”

And wrapping up the month of November at the home of the Miami Heat, it’s Travis Scott’s Utopia — Circus Maximus Tour.

You’ve got two chances to catch the rapper doing his thing. He’ll be in town Nov. 27 and 29.

Travis Scott (singing): “I tried to choose you, you’d rather go club. Know what to do, you rattled me up.”

Show your spooky spirit and groove to some iconic Halloween tunes https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/show-your-spooky-spirit-and-groove-to-some-iconic-halloween-tunes/ Wed, 01 Nov 2023 00:21:28 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1376755 We’re not just in the spirit for spooks, on Halloween, we’re in the mood to move!

And some of your favorite Halloween movies and TV shows are bringing the heat to your feet.

You’ve probably heard the “Monster Mash.”

And Michael Jackson’s iconic “Thriller”…

But musicians aren’t the only ones who know how to get down and make us wanna boogie for Halloween.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show has had people taking a jump to the left and then a step to the right since 1975.

And speaking of busting a move…

Wednesday Addams became a social media sensation thanks to Jenna Ortega’s epic dancing in Netflix’s Wednesday and the viral TikTok edit featuring Lady Gaga’s song, “Bloody Mary.”

You go, girl.

You know what time it is. Beetlejuice showing up to the party can only mean one thing.

And speaking of party crashers…

The Sanderson sisters may put a spell on you.

But at least you’ll get to dance the night away, Hocus Pocus-style. There are worse ways to go…

Madea ain’t got time for nonsense on Halloween. But she sure can make some to throw it down… Whether she wants to or not.

And the monsters of the Hotel Transylvania franchise definitely know how to turn up. Especially my main man, Drac. I’m totally stealing his moves for my costume party.

From ‘Masked Singer’ to ‘Snake Oil,’ celebs share their big Halloween plans https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/from-masked-singer-to-snake-oil-celebs-share-their-big-halloween-plans/ Sat, 28 Oct 2023 03:16:58 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1375748 Some people are really good at counting down to the holidays. For instance, I know there are exactly 182 days left until Arbor Day, but before you go planting any seeds or ideas, we’ve gotta talk about the spookiest time of the year. Deco’s resident happy haunt, Alex Miranda, is here.

Halloween is only a couple days away, and we’re not the only ones ready for some tricks and treats. Your favorite celebs have got some big Halloween plans … and they’re sharing them with us.

It’s that time of year again, and you know what that means…

Michael Keaton (as Beetlejuice): “It’s showtime!”

Tiki (singing): “Oh, oh, oh, it’s magic, you know.”

The judges on “The Masked Singer” are used to being surrounded by people in all kinds of crazy costumes, but that doesn’t mean they’re any less excited about Halloween this year.

Robin Thicke: “Halloween has become a whole month of celebration because my kids love it, you know? So, now with all the kids, they want to put up all the decorations, and we celebrate Halloween for the whole month.”

Jenny McCarthy: “I don’t have any Halloween plans yet, although it is my favorite holiday because my birthday is, that’s the night before.”

Hannah Waddingham (as The Witch Mother): “This is a very sacred space for witches. We come here to charge our magic.”

“Hocus Pocus 2” star Hannah Waddingham can’t wait to get spooky with her daughter.

Hannah Waddingham: “I have a 9-year-old daughter. It’s her favorite. I do the whole nine yards with her. I do, like, full-on face painting, making her unrecognizable. I do it as well.”

Ellen Burstyn (as Chris MacNeil): “Exorcism is a ritual. Every culture, every religion, they all use different methods. It’s gonna take all of them.”

Working on horror films means the guys behind “The Exorcist: Believer” are always ready to play dress-up.

David Gordon Green: “Lucky enough to have worked on three ‘Halloween’ movies, and so, I carry a Michael Myers mask in the trunk of my car just in case.”

Jason Blum: “We see a lot of ‘Purge’ masks as Halloween costumes. That’s really fun. My most memorable Halloween costume, at least recently, was M3GAN. ‘M3GAN’ was a big hit. It was a lot of fun.”

David Spade (as Joe Dirt): “You boys got something to say to me? Why don’t you talk in the microphone? I got a backup mic right here.”

It’s not just about dressing themselves up, though. “Snake Oil” host David Spade says he likes to see what fans come up with.

David Spade: “There’s a lot of ‘Joe Dirt’ out there. I usually post a lot of those. It’s very funny. People dress their babies up like it.”

And, when it comes to trick-or-treating, Jack Osbourne’s got a plan to keep his little ones from crashing and burning off a sugar rush.

Jack Osbourne: “You write a note to the Switch Witch a couple of days before Halloween. You leave it outside, and it has, like, three gifts that you’re willing to trade all your candy for.”

Genius idea? Or evil plot twist? You decide.

Happy Halloween weekend to all.

SoFlo Swifties unite: Le Petite Fete to ring in release of ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ at Gramps https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/soflo-swifties-unite-le-petite-fete-to-ring-in-release-of-1989-taylors-version-at-gramps/ Thu, 26 Oct 2023 00:31:05 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1374810 You don’t have to be in New York to party like it’s 1989.

Swifties (singing): Welcome to New York. It’s been waiting for you. Welcome to New York, Welcome to New York.”

Le Petite Fete, the company that throws those epic Taylor Swift dance parties, is back in SoFlo Thursday night.

They’re celebrating the release of “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” at Gramps in Wynwood.

Caitie Phillips: “It’s Thursday. We will start ‘1989’ at midnight, so it is gonna be a later party. But I figured it’s Miami; people are used to being up ’til like 6 a.m.”

Courtney Gibson: “Nothing is more fun than singing your favorite songs with a bunch of strangers and everyone knowing the words.”

“1989 (Taylor’s Version)” is Tay-Tay’s fourth re-recording. It drops at midnight on Friday.

The event at Gramps is for Swifties 21 and over. The party kicks off at 9 p.m. and will include a costume contest and a lip sync battle. Tickets are $20 and available online.

Showtime https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/showtime-358/ Sat, 07 Oct 2023 04:20:35 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1369063 Trick or treat! It may not be Halloween yet, but you’re in luck, because we’ve got the best treat for you: this week’s Showtime.

Ellen Burstyn (as Chris MacNeil): “Exorcism is a ritual. Every culture, every religion, they all use different methods. It’s gonna take all of them.”

Spooky season is off to a bang … or should I say fright?

Ellen Burstyn returns to the “Exorcist” franchise in “The Exorcist: Believer,” and this time around, she’s coming to the rescue of two demonically possessed girls.

Robert Patrick (as Dwayne): “What the hell are you doing?”

Siobhan Fallon Hogan (as Val): “Going to work just like you.”

Robert Patrick (as Dwayne): “This ain’t a nightclub.”

Siobhan Fallon Hogan (as Val): “Really? I couldn’t help but notice.”

Robert Patrick (as Dwayne): “Good God.”

It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it. In “Shelter in Solitude,” a washed-up country singer becomes a prison guard and forms an unlikely friendship with a death row inmate.

Problem is, he’s set to be executed in just 10 days.

Willa Fitzgerald (as Maben): “I shot him until he wasn’t moving no more.”

Mel Gibson (as Mitchell): “I know a place you can go. Somewhere safe.”

Garrett Hedlund (as Russell): “If I’m gonna trust you, you’re gonna have to trust me.”

Desperate times call for desperate measures in “Desperation Road.”

Mel Gibson co-stars in the action-thriller about a mom on the run with her young daughter, and in this small town, justice and the law are two very different things.

Abigail Breslin (as Trish Weir): “I’m testifying.”

Mireille Enos (as Zeola Weir) : “Are you sure about this? I don’t want to see you become damaged goods.”

Abigail Breslin (as Trish Weir): “It’s not just for me.”

Abigail Breslin wants justice in the biographical crime drama “Miranda’s Victim.”

The film is based on the true story of a woman who was kidnapped and sexually assaulted in the 1960s … and the landmark “Miranda rights” case that changed the justice system forever.

Kiernan Shipka (as Jamie Hughes): “I’d like to report a crime that hasn’t happened yet. Have you seen the movie ‘Back to the Future’? Basically, I’m living that movie right now, which is how I know there’s gonna be a murder tonight.”

Crime meets time travel in the horror comedy “Totally Killer.”

A teen ends up in the ’80s after coming face-to-face with the psycho who murdered her mom’s friends years ago, so she teams up with the teenage version of her mother to take down the killer once and for all … and hopefully return to her own timeline, of course.

Kiernan Shipka (as Jamie Hughes): “I need to stop all this horror before it happens.”

Love is in the air for Marisa Tomei in new rom-com ‘She Came to Me’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/love-is-in-the-air-for-marisa-tomei-in-new-rom-com-she-came-to-me/ Tue, 03 Oct 2023 23:54:30 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1367868 They say love is a many-splendored thing. But love can also drive you to do some kinda crazy things, like always tuning in to your favorite nightly entertainment show on Channel 7.

Deco’s getting all lovey-dovey with the cast and director of the new movie “She Came to Me,” which has been granted a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement for promotion and interviews.

Peter Dinklage is feeling the music in the new rom-com “She Came to Me.”

Well, not so much.

But his co-star, Anne Hathaway, is totally feeling Deco’s vibe.

Anne Hathaway: “I’m just all about it. That is beautiful.”

Anne plays Peter’s wife and therapist, who encourages her composer hubby to…

Patricia: “You need to take a walk.”

Steven: “Doc, I walked Levi 15 minutes ago.”

Patricia: “I don’t mean around the block. You need to get lost, Steven.”

In order to find inspiration, which ends up inspiring him all the way to Marisa Tomei’s bed.

Oh the drama. But it also begs the question, where do Anne, Marisa and director Rebecca Miller like to escape to when they need a creative boost?

Anne Hathaway: “If i told you, you might find me there.”

I mean hello, Deco can keep a secret but we’ll let it slide.

Rebecca Miller: “The ocean would be my favorite. Or looking at the Hudson River. The Hudson River, which is a character in this movie, i just love. I love it in the city. I love it upstate. I just love looking at the Hudson River.

Marisa Tomei: “I love an empty dance room, with like the sprung dance floor and the mirrors on the wall. A lot of time that’s where you start rehearsals. And I love that it’s just, that’s beautiful. I love all the possibility that can happen when you walk in that room.”

In the film, Marisa’s character is obsessed with love.

But when it comes to ways to show affection in real life…

Marisa Tomei: “Brushing my hair. I like when someone brushes my hair. I don’t care who it is. It can be a grandma. It can be a toddler. It can be anyone in between.”

Rebecca Miller. Breakfast in bed. Even if it’s just toast and coffee makes me so happy. “

Anne Hathaway: “The first thing that came to mind, genuinely, was like fill up the gas tank. Like someone who wants to make sure I’m getting some place safely. You know.”

October brings Jonas Brothers, Keith Urban, Ed Sheeran, John Legend and The 1975 to SoFlo in concert https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/october-brings-jonas-brothers-keith-urban-ed-sheeran-john-legend-and-the-1975-to-soflo-in-concert/ Sat, 30 Sep 2023 02:58:40 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1366929 Goodbye September, helloooooo October! There’s a lot to look forward to, and we’re not just talking about spooky season and Halloween. Here’s a look at next month’s concert forecast.

Jonas Brothers (singing): “No, don’t get stressed, it’s gon’ get figured out. Oh, deep conversations at the Waffle House.”

Forget the Waffle House. The Jonas Brothers are coming to SoFlo!

Joe, Nick and Kevin are stopping by the Kaseya Center in Miami on Oct. 14.

And if that alone wasn’t enough of a draw, the guys will be playing five of their albums in one night. Now that’s a bang for your buck

Matty Healy (singing): “Distract my brain from the terrible news. It’s not living if it’s not with you.”

It’s a bittersweet moment for fans of The 1975. The good news is, the guys are also playing at the Kaseya Center.

The downside? The band says they’ll be taking an indefinite hiatus after this tour, so the show on Oct. 17 might be your last chance to see them for a while.

Keith Urban (singing): “This goes out to the wild cards and all of the wild hearts, just like mine.”

Get ready for three times the fun at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood.

Up first: Keith Urban. The country superstar will be in town on Oct. 21. Yeehaw!

Ed Sheeran (singing): “Ooh, I love it when you do it like that. And when you’re close up, give me the shivers.”

Ed Sheeran’s not missing out on the fun, and he definitely won’t be shivering when he brings his Mathematics Tour to SoFlo.

You can catch him at the same venue the day right after Keith’s show. No need to rewind to figure out when that is: Ed’s here Oct. 22.

John Legend (singing): “All she wanna do is, all she wanna do is, all she wanna do is dance. All I wanna do is get up on her. Got me in the palm of her hands.”

Last but not least at Hard Rock Live: the man, the myth, the legend! John Legend, that is.

He’ll be moving and grooving on Oct. 28.

John’s got some real emotional ballads in his arsenal, too, so get ready to be in your feelings.

John Legend (singing): “All she wanna do is, all she wanna do is, all she wanna do is dance. All I wanna do is get up on her. Got me in the palm of her hands.”

Taylor Swift-themed party to be held at Gramps in Wynwood https://wsvn.com/entertainment/taylor-swift-themed-party-to-be-held-at-gramps-in-wynwood/ Wed, 27 Sep 2023 00:04:41 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1365580 By now, it’s become pretty obvious that we live in “The World, Taylor’s version.” And while Taylor won’t be bringing her Eras Tour to the 305 until next year, Deco found a party happening this weekend that’s putting you center-stage.

If by shimmer you mean, shimmy, you’re totally into something, Miss Swift.

That’s the spirit. And if you’re in the mood to shake it off, shake it off, you’re in luck.

Gramps in Wynwood is getting the total Taylor Swift treatment this Saturday as Le Petite Fete’s Swiftie themed dance party returns to SoFlo.

Courtney Gibson: “We love Gramps. They’re always amazing and the energy there is always so fun, so we’re so excited to be back.”

This time around, the event is celebrating…

Courtney Gibson: “The start of sad girl fall with ‘Tis the Damn Season.'”

It’s all about the Folkmore and Evermore albums.

But that doesn’t mean you’re gonna miss out on screaming and dancing to go along to all your classic faves.

Cate Phillips: “Think of you and the people you probably sat next to during the Eras Tour and how you guys were just screaming along and just loving every second. That same vibe.”

Cate Phillips: “We will be taking requests and obviously all of the top hits will be played, so there will be happy songs to dance around to.”

This party is all about making you feel like the star you are.

Cate Phillips: “We do a lip sync contest. A costume contest.”

Ashlynn: “I’m Ashlynn, and I’m Blank Space Taylor.”

Emma: “Hi, I’m Emma and I’m channeling you need to calm down Taylor Swift.”

The idea is to create a fun space where people can have a good time while celebrating their love for Taylor and her music.

Cate Phillip: “Nothing is more fun than singing your favorite songs with a bunch of strangers and everyone knowing the words.”

Doors open at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Gamps.

Tickets are $20 and the event is 21 plus

Everyone attending gets a free can koozie that’s Taylor Swift themed.

Celebrities get pushed to their limits in 2nd season of FOX’s ‘Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/celebrities-get-pushed-to-their-limits-in-2nd-season-of-foxs-special-forces-worlds-toughest-test/ Mon, 25 Sep 2023 23:55:24 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1365193 Brutal. Intense. Extreme. And I’m not just talking about my behavior during a good shoe sale.

Those words also describe the crazy challenges on the new season of “special forces: World’s toughest test.”

There’s no time to break into a cold sweat because these celebs are being pushed to their limit in season two of FOX’s hit series “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.”

Fourteen famous faces are buckling down and taking on some grueling challenges in the ice mountains of New Zealand.

Among them Tara Reid, Tyler Cameron, and Brian Austin Green.

Brian Austin Green: “It was not easy. Tara, was much stronger than I was out there. I cried constantly. No it was brutal

Tyler Cameron: “I thought I going to take a vacation. You know, I didn’t think it was going to be that hard. But I was wrong. It was the wrong vacation, you know? But it was honestly one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.”

There’s a reason the word “toughest” is in the show’s title. But Blac Chyna and Jojo Siwa say they had their reasons for signing up.

Blac Chyna: “I just wanted to see how far I could get.”

Jojo Siwa: “I wanted to go outside my comfort zone. You know, I’ve been in a safety box with a safety net around me my whole life.”

The challenges are meant to push people physically and emotionally.

Just ask Bode Miller and Jack Osbourne.

Bode Miller: “We were all ready to quit a lot of different times. And then when you don’t when you’re right on it, you can almost feel the words like forming in the back of your mouth and then you don’t do it.”

Jack Osbourne: “This doesn’t turn off. Even at night, when they go lights out, they can come knock on your door at any moment and drag you out of bed and start putting you through some God awful challenge or throw you in like an ice water tank.”

The intense experience, really made some celebs, like Olympic speed skater Erin Jackson, miss the comforts of home.

Erin Jackson: “I really like my mattress a lot, and I didn’t have it for a while. And then also just relaxation. I felt like i was on edge the whole time.”

You can catch the season two premiere of “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” tonight at 9, right here on 7.

Argentina’s Chimba Restaurant brings Latin fusion goodness to its new Miami location https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/argentinas-chimba-restaurant-brings-latin-fusion-goodness-to-its-new-miami-location/ Sat, 02 Sep 2023 02:12:32 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1354641 The long weekend is the perfect time for a little getaway. A vacation might be nice, but you don’t have to leave SoFlo to send your taste buds on a journey. Deco’s Alex Miranda, who’s always looking like a snack, is here with more.

More like always looking for a snack. You don’t wanna see me when I’m hangry. Thankfully, that’s not a problem any of us will have at the new SoFlo restaurant Chimba, because this place is serving up a fusion of many flavors.

Variety is the spice of life at Chimba in Miami.

Kevin Acosta: “We’re gonna share with you food from Peru, from Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, of course, from Mexico, so it’s gonna be a very, very, very, nice combination.”

Chimba comes to SoFlo all the way from Argentina, and it’s the first in the U.S.

But before we dig in, we’ve gotta play the name game.

Kevin Acosta: “In South America, ‘chimba’ is slang that we can use to refer to something exceptionally good, and that’s what we’re gonna bring here in Chimba. We want to share with all the people our food, our roots, our heritage.”

When it comes to the food, it is all about creative takes on the classics. Like the tiradito.

Kevin Acosta: “It’s not the traditional tiradito, because we’re gonna use red Argentine shrimp. It’s composed with coconut tiger milk. The tiradito also has mango passion fruit relish.”

The kitchen also gets crafty with the birria arepas, which combines the flavors of Venezuela and Mexico.

No, you’re not seeing things. The arepas are actually red because they’re made with beets.

And don’t forget about the empanadas. These are stuffed full of all kinds of yummy ingredients — like shredded meat and even eggs. Now that’s a mouthful!

Mike Grinberg: “I’m from Argentina, so the empanadas to me are always – they always hit home. So these were quite good.”

You’re not getting the full Chimba experience if you’re not saving room for dessert … and this one is especially worth it, because you actually get to play with your food.

Kevin Acosta: “Our pavlova is filled with passion fruit ganache, mango passion fruit relish, and it’s very interactive, because when we bring it to the table, you can break it.”

Brooke Brazelton: “It was so fun! And I feel like it’s so creative and just like spices it up at the end. The food was so amazing! I’m definitely coming back, I’m bringing my friends here.”

Chimba is open from Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., or until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Showtime https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/showtime-353/ Sat, 02 Sep 2023 01:13:32 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1354626 Some people like to move it, move it, but personally? I’d rather movie, movie … and if you like to movie, movie, too, you’re in luck. This week’s Showtime is packed with new films to enjoy over the holiday weekend.

Eugenio Mastrandrea (as Gio Bonucci): “You should stay out of other people’s business.”

Denzel Washington (as Robert McCall): “Whatever it is you and your friends do, do it somewhere else.”

Eugenio Mastrandrea (as Gio Bonucci): “You warning me?”

Denzel Washington (as Robert McCall): “I’m preparing you.”

Some people just never learn. Don’t mess with Denzel Washington.

The actor is back as Robert McCall in “The Equalizer 3,” which is the final installment of the trilogy. This time, he’s teaming up with Dakota Fanning as he takes on the Mafia.

Hilary Swank (as Marissa Bennings): “Someone killed my son. I need to know.”

Jack Reynor (as Toby): “We got a lead, but I don’t think that’s what you should be thinking about right now, Mom.”

Hilary Swank is a woman on a mission in “The Good Mother.” She plays a grieving mom investigating the mysterious death of her son.

The only way to get some answers is to form an alliance with his pregnant girlfriend and explore the world of drugs and corruption.

Minnie Driver (as Anne): “A family living in a farmhouse claims a talking mongoose lives in their barn. Creature’s name is Gef.”

Christopher Lloyd (as Dr. Harry Price): “What do you think about that?”

Simon Pegg, Minnie Driver and Christopher Lloyd are going on a weird adventure in the British comedy “Nandor Fodor and the Talking Mongoose.” Try saying that five times fast!

The film follows a paranormal doctor who’s trying to figure out if a family who claims to have a talking animal is nuts or telling the truth.

Frank Grillo (as Jorg Drakos): “I want you to know that this isn’t your typical contract. It’s more like a competition to kill me, King of Killers.”

Locked and loaded! In “King of Killers,” a group of international hit men are hired to take out the most dangerous killer in the world.

But they quickly discover they’re actually being hunted by him. Talk about a plot twist!

Rachel Sennott (as PJ): “We teach a bunch of girls how to defend themselves. They are grateful to us. Adrenaline is flowing. Next thing you know, Isabel and Britney are kissing us on the mouth!”

Bottoms up! In the new comedy “Bottoms,” two unpopular girls set up a female fight club at their high school in order to get closer to their crushes.

But things don’t exactly go as plan. Who could have predicted that?!

‘MasterChef’ winner Kelsey Murphy appears as guest judge in ‘United Tastes of America’ episode https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/masterchef-winner-kelsey-murphy-appears-as-guest-judge-in-united-tastes-of-america-episode/ Thu, 31 Aug 2023 00:27:28 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1353589 If you saw Alex’s Thanksgiving cooking segment a few years back, you know he and the kitchen have a lot of beef … but don’t worry, because when it comes to cooking, we’re going to turn it to the pros over at “MasterChef.” If you’re tuning in to this week’s new episode, you might recognize a familiar face.

Kelsey Murphy is returning to her roots. The “MasterChef” Season 11 winner is heading back to the kitchen on Fox.

But don’t expect her to be doing any cooking. Kelsey is a guest judge in a brand-new episode of “United Tastes of America.”

Kelsey Murphy: “It was one of the best days still, like, of my life, even more than winning, just to get back there, be on the other side of it.”

Kelsey Murphy: “You’re going for it today.”

Kelsey joins host Gordon Ramsay and resident chefs Aaron Sanchez and Joe Bastianich as they oversee this week’s challenge, and that involves the home cooks creating an elevated dish for the average sports fan.

Kelsey Murphy: “I really want to see them think of something that they could get at a stadium and make it a Michelin-starred dish.”

The physical therapist-turned-chef is an expert in taking the stadium food experience to the next level. She’s been serving up tons of delicious dishes through her pop-up, Inspo.

Kelsey Murphy: “It was just a little, little, tiny little pop-up inside a brewery, and it has really exploded into this huge stadium food company and business. I now have three locations inside Lucas Oil Stadium. It’s really been a funny niche that I have fallen into, and it’s been such a blessing and so much fun.”

Kelsey says she hopes her journey will inspire the remaining chef-testants.

Kelsey Murphy: “These are home cooks just like I was, and so, I want them to really understand where the limitations are and where they can shine and to take risks, you know, and be a little playful.”

Get hyped! You can catch a double dose of new “MasterChef: United Tastes of America” episodes, Monday at 8 p.m., right after Deco.

Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon wins Fox’s ‘Stars on Mars’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/olympic-figure-skater-adam-rippon-wins-foxs-stars-on-mars/ Tue, 29 Aug 2023 23:53:36 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1353142 Even here on earth, Alex, I think you’re out of this world. No,Lynn, you’re out of this world.

But I’m out of this galaxy. And so are you. And we’re in good company because “Stars on Mars” has just found its brightest.

Deco’s blasting off and going interstellar with season one winner Adam Rippon.

Ground control, do you copy? We’ve got an incoming transmission.

That can only mean one thing.

Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon is the brightest star in the galaxy after smashing the competition in the season finale of Fox’s “Stars on Mars.”

Adam Rippon: “I’m speechless. I am beside myself. It feels great. Being the brightest star in the universe is a really good thing.”

It’s no wonder Adam’s feeling so good, I mean, he pretty much manifested his own victory.

Remember this iconic moment back in episode one, when he was up for elimination?

Adam Rippon. “I think I’m critical because I’m one of the hottest people here. And I think that’s important for any kind of challenge that we do here.”

Adam Rippon.”It ended up being actually very factual. When you’re so hot, cause I know when people are watching this they’re going, ‘wow he’s so hot.’ When you’re so hot, you can’t get eliminated.”

After all, it’s just basic math

Adam Rippon: “bright does equal hot, and that is a famous math problem that you learn in school.”

Still, there were times he didn’t think he’d make it until the end.

Adam Rippon.”I told my husband, ‘I’m gonna make it til the end. I’m gonna be there the whole month.’ And I had been there two days and I remember thinking, ‘Oh God, this is gonna be a really short month. Physically it was so much harder that I thought it was going to be.”

Adam may be able to survive the red planet on TV. But when it comes to actual outer space travel…

Adam Rippon.: “I can guarantee you that if the opportunity came to really go into orbit, I wouldn’t go.”

But hypothetically…

Adam Rippon.: “Let’s say you went, and I had to put a playlist together for you, I’d put some Charlie XCX on there. I’d put some Olivia Rodrigo. She’s never done me wrong. Put some old Britney spears. The blackout album. The whole album. I think that you’d be set to go.”

Adam Rippon: “I’m Adam Rippon, and I’m the brightest star in the galaxy.”

CityPlace Doral invites families to have eye-popping weekend fun at Summer Chalk Fest https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/cityplace-doral-invites-families-to-have-eye-popping-weekend-fun-at-summer-chalk-fest/ Sat, 26 Aug 2023 00:53:53 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1351776 I don’t know about you, but I am a pro finger-painter … but that’s not the kind of finger painting we’re talking about. There’s a festive event in Doral on Saturday to help you chalk up some weekend fun.

The kiddos may be back in school, but summer is far from over at CityPlace Doral.

Claudia Marquez: “Here at CityPlace Doral, you can enjoy our different restaurants, our entertainment, our beautiful fountain, as well as our art installations that we are doing here at the center to make it memorable for the whole family to enjoy.”

And this weekend, things are getting even more colorful.

Claudia Marquez: “This weekend, we’re doing our Summer Chalk Fest Festival. We have Ken Mullen who will be doing the chalk. We will also have activities for the kids to enjoy. There’ll be an interactive DJ.”

Ken Mullen, also known as Mellow Monkey Art, has been doing chalk art for about 30 years.

Ken Mullen: “I specialize in 3-D anamorphic chalk art. That’s the kind that people see holes in the ground or things coming up and you can pose with it.”

And when it comes to the fest, he’s in a tropical mood.

Ken Mullen: “There’s gonna be water and dolphins, and you’re gonna be able to get on a surfboard and look like you’re riding the waves.”

Ken’s a busy guy, and this piece is still in progress … but we convinced him to take a little break to paint the town Deco style.

Now that’s what I call masterpiece!

Summer Chalk Fest is totally free.

Gypsy Chef David Myers puts his own spin on Mediterranean cuisine at Adrift Mare in Brickell https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/gypsy-chef-david-myers-puts-his-own-spin-on-mediterranean-cuisine-at-adrift-mare-in-brickell/ Sat, 26 Aug 2023 00:26:51 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1351769 Taking a fancy trip to the Mediterranean can be expensive, especially when you start adding up all the good food you wanna try while there. That’s why Deco has found the next best thing. There’s a new restaurant that’s bringing those bold and authentic flavors to the Magic City. Trust us, your stomach is gonna thank you for this.

You’ve probably heard of Esmeralda from Disney’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.”

Kevin Kline (as Phoebus, voice): “You fight almost as well as a man.”

Demi Moore (as Esmeralda, voice): “Funny, I was going to say the same thing about you.”

Or perhaps Shakira’s old school bop, “Gypsy.”

Shakira (singing): “‘Cause I’m a gypsy. Are you coming with me? I might steal your clothes and wear them if they fit me.”

But your taste buds are about to go on a culinary journey, because celebrity chef David Myers, aka the Gypsy Chef, is setting up shop in SoFlo.

Chef David Myers: “Travel is my greatest source of inspiration, so that is how I create, and then I cook based on that.”

David’s got restaurants in Los Angeles and all over Asia, but Adrift Mare is his first ever restaurant on the East Coast.

And lucky for us, it’s right here at the Hotel AKA Brickell.

Chef David Myers: “I’m super excited to be here in Miami to launch our very first Adrift Mare. It’s a coastal city, which really fits in with our Mediterranean style of cuisine. The excitement that guests have for food here — it’s a foodie town, so it fits right in for what we do.”

At this restaurant, it’s all about fresh flavors.

Chef David Myers: “The food here, I think, is really focused around the very best seafood, the very best seasonal produce that we can get. Olive oil influenced, because of the health benefits of that.”

We’re talking dishes like the falafel and kale salad with hummus, and the heirloom tomatoes with burrata.

Chef David Myers: “We basically slice them super thin, serve them burrata and a tomato water with puffed quinoa grain. It’s light, it’s vibrant, and to me, it just screams of Mediterranean flavors.”

And, if you’re feeling fishy, you can’t go wrong with the tuna with black truffle.

Brooke Keith: “I think the tuna is probably one of the best dishes on the menu. I got to try everyone else’s, but I think the tuna is like the spotlight dish here.”

And, when it comes to dynamic duos…

Chef David Myers: “Mussels and clams, cooked with a little bit of Fresno chili butter and some white wine.”

Aryelle Berman: “The mussels were fantastic. It has a little kick to the sauce, but it was just right, it wasn’t too spicy. Really great food all around.”

Adrift Mare isn’t just dishing out fantastic food. This place is also serving up a view that can’t be beat.

Chef David Myers: “It’s also great to go out on the patio, have a cocktail, look out over it. I mean, to me, this is the best of Miami living.”

That’s a good thing for us here in SoFlo, because our weather is usually extreme heat or heavy downpours.

But you will not need an umbrella or ice pack tonight, because Deco’s got your concert forecast for the month of September.

Luke Hemmings (singing): “Youngblood, say you want me, say you want me out of your life. And I’m just a dead man walking tonight.”

Rock on, SoFlo. The pop group 5 Seconds of Summer is bringing its world tour to South Florida.

The Aussie band will take the stage at Hollywood’s Hard Rock Live on Sept. 6. Standing room tickets are still available, so get there early if you wanna lock down a good spot.

Axl Rose (singing): “What a weight upon your shoulders that you don’t need. My heart bleeds for me.”

September is a busy month at Hard Rock Live, because Guns N’ Roses is playing there, too.

You can catch Axl Rose, Slash and the rest of the group on Sept. 15.

SZA (singing): “This may be the night that my dreams might let me know, all the stars are closer.”

Talk about star power! SZA is bringing her SOS Tour to Miami.

She’ll be jamming out at the Kaseya Center on Sept. 20, and knowing SZA, this show’s gonna be hot, hot, hot!

Becky G (singing): “You light me up inside, like the Fourth of July. Whenever you’re around, I always seem to smile.”

2023 is Becky G’s year. The Latin superstar is hitting the road for her first ever headlining tour, and you know she’s gotta show SoFlo some love.

Becky will be at Hard Rock Live on Sept. 23, so bring those dancing shoes and get ready to party.

John Mayer (singing): “Maybe you’re the last train, maybe you’re the last train home.”

Why settle for one John Mayer concert when you can have two? The singer is headlining a pair of shows at Hard Rock Live on Sept. 27 and 28.

Both concerts are part of John’s Solo arena tour. He does have opening acts, but John’s set will just be him with a guitar and piano.

Drake (rapping): “I know when that hotline bling, that can only mean one thing.”

Drake loves himself a double feature, too. That’s why he’s performing back-to-back nights in Miami.

His It’s All a Blur Tour is coming to the Kaseya Center on Sept. 28 and 29. A double dose of Drizzy? Now that’s worth celebrating.

Rusty Pelican in Key Biscayne to bring Polynesian cuisine to celebrate 51st anniversary https://wsvn.com/entertainment/rusty-pelican-in-key-biscayne-to-bring-polynesian-cuisine-to-celebrate-51st-anniversary/ Wed, 23 Aug 2023 02:52:01 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1350594 There are places that whisper perhaps, but then there are places that scream “SoFlo”: South Beach, Vizcaya, the Guitar Hotel. And when it comes to restaurants, the Rusty Pelican is right up there.

This iconic spot is celebrating a major anniversary this week. And we’re checking out what they’re serving up, just for the occasion.

The good times are rolling at the Rusty Pelican in Key Biscayne.

Jim Pastor: “Here at the Rusty Pelican, we’re celebrating our 51st anniversary this week.”

You heard that right. The iconic SoFlo restaurant is marking its big birthday by going back to its roots.

Jim Pastor: “We opened in 1972, and we’re just gonna have some fun.”

That means kicking it old school.

Jim Pastor: “Rusty Pelican was originally a Polynesian-themed restaurant. So we’re featuring some of the classics that was on the original menu.”

We’re talking things like the chicken kona kai. It’s got a sweet and sour sauce and brings the aloha vibes with rice and grilled pineapple.

Another throwback dish making a comeback is the teriyaki glazed sirloin with Polynesian rice and grilled broccolini.

And don’t forget about the conch fritters.

The menu isn’t the only thing getting retro. The prices are, too.

Jim Pastor: “So whether you come here for the chicken or the beef teriyaki, you’re gonna get it for $19.72.”

It wouldn’t be a party without some cocktails.

The restaurant’s keeping it tropical with Mai Tais and their signature “Rum Away with Me” drink.

And don’t skip dessert, because another old-school item on the menu is baked Alaska.

Des Baklarov: “The dessert was outstanding. Really, really good date at the Rusty Pelican. It’s a staple here in Miami, and once again, it’s a great place to gather.”

There’s a lot of good reasons to party at the Pelican, and the view is definitely one of them.

Jim Pastor: “So this view is extremely unique. You know I’ve been around the world, and I’ve been to a lot of places, and this is one of the most special views. You can really find it anywhere.”

Now that’s something worth celebrating.

Jim Pastor: “Your experience here is always going to be top notch. You know, great service, great food, and great ambiance. It’s a destination, so it helps you escape your every day because it almost feels like you’re on an island.”

The Rusty Pelican’s throwback menu is available through Friday.

The restaurant is also throwing a really big party on Saturday, which has been proclaimed “Rusty Pelican day” by the City of Miami.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the throwback menu will benefit the Overtown Youth Center.

Feel the speed as sports biopic ‘Gran Turismo’ races into theaters https://wsvn.com/entertainment/feel-the-speed-as-sports-biopic-gran-turismo-races-into-theaters/ Mon, 21 Aug 2023 23:52:02 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1350195 Words of wisdom can come from all kinds of places, like Rihanna’s hit 2007 song “Shut up and Drive.”

Words to live by.

Speaking of driving, there’s a new movie speeding into theaters this week and Deco’s going for a ride with the cast of “Gran Turismo.”

Take the nearest exit, Fast and the Furious because David Harbour and Archie Madekwe have a need for speed in the biographical sports drama, “Gran Turismo.”

The film shares a name with the classic video game but actually is based on the real story of Jann Mardenborough, who went on to become a professional race car driver.

Sounds like the kind of movie where you need to know what you’re doing right?

Archie Madekwe: “I got my license a week before I arrived on set, and then it was kind of head-first, full immersion, cars 24/7.”

A week?

That might explain why the cars had a bone to pick with Archie.

Archie Madekwe: “I’m a shell of a human. I need to lie down for six months. That was my life. Being in those cars destroyed me.”

Archie actually got behind the wheel for parts of the movie and he says it took a real toll on him.

Archie Madekwe: “It’s just one of the hardest, most physical things you can put your body through. It just was so difficult that I just didn’t even wanna look at a car again.”

Not even a really cool one?

Archie Madekwe: “Neill Blomkamp, the director, is driving a GT3 RS at the moment, and he picked me up for dinner the other day and I was like, ‘PTSD’ getting in this car. I can’t.”

Don’t get it twisted though. Making the movie was still a really cool experience, especially with someone like David Harbour as his character Jack in your corner.

David Harbour: “He tells it like it is. So you feel like you can trust someone like that.”

Archie Madekwe: “And I would say that is true of you, David. I think that you’re quite a direct person in a good way. When and if a compliment comes, you really take it. You’re like, ‘I guess he meant that, great.'”

David Harbour: “There’s a reason I was cast in this particular role.”

Driving is no fun without some good tunes. So we had to ask, what’s the ultimate driving song?

David Harbour: “I just took my step daughter to see Taylor Swift, and all I can hear is like Taylor Swift songs every time something comes up. So now I guess it would be like “Bad Blood.” Me just jamming out to “Bad Blood.”

Archie Madekwe: “‘”Now we got Bad Blood.'”

David Harbour: “Yeah. See it works.”

Archie Madekwe: “It’s a banger. It’s a banger.”

Smart Cups CEO wins Gordon Ramsay’s partnership in culinary show finale https://wsvn.com/entertainment/smart-cups-ceo-wins-gordon-ramsays-partnership-in-culinary-show-finale/ Fri, 18 Aug 2023 10:23:23 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1349153 A food star is born! Well, sort of. The finale of “Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars” went down Wednesday night and in the end, only one person could be chosen to go into business with the famous chef.

Gordon Ramsay (in the show): “I wanna bank on someone that I can really believe in. It’s not just an investment. It’s a partnership.”

It’s been a long road to the finale of “Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars.”

Gordon Ramsay (in the show): “This has been a really tough decision for me.”

But in the end, there could only be one winner.

Gordon Ramsay (in the show): “Congratulations goes to … Chris.”

Chris’ supporters on the show: “Yes!”

Gordon’s going into business with Smart Cups CEO and founder Chris Kanik!

Chris Kanik: “Sometimes I take a step back and I go, whoa, this is pretty cool. Gordon Ramsay’s my partner now and we’re going to take Smart Cups to the next level.”

Coming out on top means a $250,000 investment from Chef Ramsay himself. That’s a lot of moolah!

Chris Kanik: “With Gordon’s investment, our horizons expand dramatically. We’re looking to expand into printed mouthwash, bone broth, as well as printed medications and humanitarian applications. I’m most passionate about the humanitarian impact Smart Cups technology can have on the world.”

Chris says being on the show wasn’t always easy.

Gordon Ramsay (in the show): “So, how can it be gluten-free? Bulgur wheat is cracked wheat. 20 minutes before we go live.”

Chris Kanik: “To confront early on, as opposed to let things marinate, I learned that I’m not really that bad of a cook. I don’t cook. I don’t cook. I’m a chemist. Patience — I learned a lot of patience.”

Chris Kanik: “Your product could quite honestly change the world.”

And as for what’s next, Chris can’t wait to see where this new partnership goes.

Chris Kanik: “I truly believe that if we unlock the commercial success to certain applications in Smart Cups technology, we will be able to do a lot of good in the world.”

Eat authentic Mexican cuisine at Whiskylucan in Miami https://wsvn.com/entertainment/eat-authentic-mexican-cuisine-at-whiskylucan-in-miami/ Wed, 16 Aug 2023 00:09:02 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1348388 Sometimes you just want to sit down and enjoy a nice, quiet dinner. Other times, it’s more like, Que no pare la fiesta, don’t stop the party.

And if you’re in the mood for a good time with big bites all the way from Mexico, Deco’s checking out a new spot that’s bringing a party to your mouth.

You don’t have to go far to find the fiesta right here in So-Flo.

Whiskylucan on Calle Ocho in Miami is bringing the flavors of Mexico to the 305.

John Pineros: “Whiskylucan was pretty much born in 2019 in Mexico, and what we’re trying to do out here, moving out to Miami, is just sharing experience about Mexico.”

That means…

John Pineros: “It’s not just about the food. It’s about the energy and it’s about the moment. When you come here, we treat you as a family.”

This place has it all.

From the tried and true favorites like chips and guac and quesadillas, to more traditional dishes like sope, the queso fundido, and the deep-fried flautas.

This one’s toped with cheese and lettuce and comes filled with mashed potatoes and your choice of protein. Now that’s a mouthful.

Valentina Daugela: “I had the flauntas. I loved the sauce, I loved the lettuce, I just love it. The queso was fire. It was a little bit spicy but not too much. I would definitely recommend it.”

And when it comes to tacos…

John Pineros: “If you think you have tried tacos before in Miami, you have to come and try our tacos at Whiskylucan.”

There’s one thing that waves above the rest here…

John Pineros: “Baha taco, it’s basically a flour tortilla with breaded fish, in this case it’ll be red snapper, and it has pico de gallo and romaine lettuce on top with sour cream.

Ramiro Finol: “The fish tacos were amazing. Whiskylucan is definitely the best Mexican experience I’ve had in Miami by far.”

Oh, and remember when we said this place knows how to bring the party?

John Pineros: “Most popular, shareable tray that we got is a guitarra, a guitar, which comes with 10 shots.”

The guitar is perfect for groups, because you can customize it any way you want.

Valentina Daugela: “It was so much fun when they brought the guitar. I love the maracas, the presentation, the sparkles. “

Ramiro Finol: “Everybody was hyped up, everybody was riled up and they were ready to get some shots in.”

Showtime https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/showtime-349/ Fri, 04 Aug 2023 02:11:15 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1345020 Popcorn, chocolates, my favorite gummy candy. They all have one thing in common. Yeah, I wish I was eating them right now. They’re all also classic movie theater snacks that are perfect to munch on … especially during this week’s Showtime.

Ayo Edebiri (as April O’Neil, voice): “This is insane. Turtle, mutant, karate teens. I want to know everything about you.”

Micah Abbey (as Donatello, voice): “Our dad is definitely not a giant rat.”

Cowabunga, dudes! Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael return to the big screen in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.”

The crime-fighting turtles just wanna be normal teens, but when an army of mutants threatens their city, they have no choice but to spring into action.

Ser’Darius Blain (as Groom): “Where are you?”

Natalie Burn (as Bride): “I can’t go through with it. I’m sorry, I thought I could.”

Ser’Darius Blain (as Groom): “Come on now, I love you.”

Natalie Burn (as Bride): “I love you, too, but I want out.”

Talk about cold feet! In “Til Death Do Us Part,” a runaway bride is fighting for her life against her vengeful fiancé and his groomsmen … and let’s just say, she can definitely hold her own.

Shiloh Fernandez (as Shelby Conners): “Hey, Sheriff.”

John Travolta (as Bodie Davis): “Shelby. Don’t believe I know you.”

John Travolta is upholding the law in the new action thriller “Mob Land.”

The actor plays a sheriff trying to keep the peace in a small town, but things hit the fan when a desperate man gets involved in a crime that draws the attention of the Mafia.

Jon Hamm (as Orson): “I found a secret room, and when I work in there, I’m able to do anything.”

Sarh Gadon (as Alyssa): “A secret room?”

Jon Hamm (as Orson): “It’s just that most people aren’t able to see it.”

Jon Hamm just needs some space. The actor plays a man just trying to fit in at his new corporate job in “Corner Office.”

But everything changes for him when he uncovers a mysterious room. Oooh, ahhhhh!

Walton Goggins (as Joe): “There it is, that’s ‘Dreamin’ Wild.'”

Chris Messina (as Matt Sullivan): “That’s you guys?”

Walton Goggins (as Joe): “Yeah, that’s us.”

Chris Messina (as Matt Sullivan): “This album is unbelievable, truly. It really just blew my mind.”

The Emerson brothers are living the dream in the new biopic “Dreamin’ Wild.” The film follows the siblings as they deal with newfound success, after their self-released debut album is rediscovered almost 30 years later. Guess some things really are worth the wait.

Character in “The Meg 2: The Trench”: “That’s the biggest Meg I’ve ever seen.”

Jason Statham (as Jonas Taylor): “Biggest Meg anyone’s ever seen.”

Character in “The Meg 2: The Trench”: “That’s the apex predator.”

Talk about taking a bite outta the big screen! Jason Statham is back for more fin — I mean fun — in “Meg 2: The Trench.”

And this time, he’s leading a research team fighting for their lives against prehistoric sharks out for blood.

Jing Wu (as Jiuming Zhang): “What happened last time?”

Jason Statham (as Jonas Taylor): “You don’t wanna know.”

Newly opened JOEY Aventura brings refined dining experience from Canada to South Florida https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/newly-opened-joey-aventura-brings-refined-dining-experience-from-canada-to-south-florida/ Fri, 28 Jul 2023 01:11:07 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1343094 You don’t need a lot of letters to come up with something cool. I mean, just look at words like love and glee. And Lynn, of course! There’s a new spot in Aventura that’s following that concept.

JOEY comes to SoFlo all the way from Canada, and while you won’t find poutine on the menu, you are going to get everything else on the menu.

You’ve probably heard of Joey from “Friends.”

Matt LeBlanc (as Joey Tribbiani): “Oh, what I do is, I look a woman up and down, and I say, ‘Hey, how you doing?'”

Or Taylor Swift’s pal, actress Joey King.

But there’s a different kind of Joey setting up shop in SoFlo.

JOEY Aventura is a brand-new, two-story restaurant next to Aventura Mall, and it comes all the way from our neighbors to the north.

Matthew Stowe: “As a Canadian concept starting in Vancouver, it’s just really exciting being able to come to Miami. It’s somewhere we’ve always wanted to be.”

This is the 32nd JOEY restaurant in the world, but the first in the Sunshine State.

Matthew Stowe: “I think South Florida is the perfect fit for JOEY, just with our globally inspired menu. We’ve got something for everyone; we kinda touch all bases of cuisine.”

He’s not kidding! This place has it all, from seafood and steak to pasta and hummus.

Matthew Stowe: “We’ve got some really great food, I think, for the area that compliments the temperature outside and just the culture.”

One of JOEY’s signature menu items is the Torched Salmon Sushi.

Matthew Stowe: “Umami mayo on the top, fresh salmon, really well seasoned seasoned sushi rice. You caramelize that mayo, it’s just – it’s one of my favorite menu items.”

And for those craving more carbs…

Matthew Stowe: “We did our Ravioli Bianco with our black truffle butter sauce, truffle ravioli filling, some fresh prawns on top, garnished with a little bit of crispy onions. When I think of that dish, I think of Miami. It’s luxurious, it’s rich, it has amazing seafood, all kind of tied into one.”

As the kids would say, this place is a vibe.

Matthew Stowe: “It’s fun, it’s upbeat, lots of energy. I mean, you look inside, it’s super busy.”

But don’t just take the chef’s word for it.

Rod: “The food is excellent. The place is upscale. Perfect for date night. I loved it.”

Vinnie Lamela: “The customer service blew me away. The servers were on top of everything. They never skipped a beat, and the food is spectacular.”

‘Good Omens’ stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen reprise angel and demon roles on Season 2 of Prime series https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/good-omens-stars-david-tennant-and-michael-sheen-reprise-angel-and-demon-roles-on-season-2-of-prime-series/ Wed, 26 Jul 2023 00:24:46 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1342286 What happens when an angel and a demon cross paths? In the book world, probably romance. In movies, definitely a war.

But in Prime Video’s hit series called “Good Omens,” it’s a hilarious unlikely friendship with a whole lot of chaos. Deco’s dishing with the cast ahead of Friday’s Season 2 premiere.

David Tennant (as Crowley): “I’m back.”

Michael Sheen (as Aziraphale): “I can see that.”

The devil may work hard, but David Tennant and Michael Sheen work harder in Season 2 of “Good Omens.”

David Tennant (as Crowley): “Take a big cup, put six shots of espresso into it, nothing else.”

Michael Sheen (as Aziraphale): “That sounds fun. Does it calm you down?”

The angel and demon with an unlikely friendship are back for a new adventure, and they’re super excited about it.

David Tennant: “There’s nothing more delightful than a fresh script pinging up with these characters and thinking we get to go and play again, we get to go and revisit this world.”

Gloria Obianyo (as Uriel): “The archangel Gabriel has disappeared. I think he’s gone to Earth.”

Jon Hamm (as Gabriel): “Hi there!”

David Tennant (as Crowley): “Ah! Gabriel! What’s he doing here? What’s happened to him?”

Michael Sheen (as Aziraphale): “I don’t know!”

Season 2 deals with a big mystery surrounding the Archangel Gabriel, played by Jon Hamm.

And he’s not the only familiar face back for more.

Maggie Service: “We thought we told the story because we did the book in Season 1, there was a full stop to it. So it felt completely out of the blue, really, to get an email from Neil Gaiman.”

There are a lot of new angels and demons joining the fray, too, and for good reasons.

Liz Carr: “It was the humor that really, really got it for me, I think, and then the silliness, actually. I love the heart and the silliness.

Shelley Conn: “There is a very deep connection, and that is, in Season 1, we asked the question ‘Are humans worth saving?’ And in Season 2, we kind of explore why.”

David Tennant (as Crowley): “We need to hide him, from everybody, Heaven, hell. We do it together.”

Michael Sheen (as Aziraphale): “Together?”

David and Michael both agree that this one’s for the fans, and they can’t wait for them to watch.

Michael Sheen: “It’s such a privileged position.”

David Tennant: “Oh, yeah!”

Michael Sheen: “To know that what you’re putting so much thought and energy and love and care and attention and work into, you know, it’s going to matter just as much to the people who you’re doing it for.”

Michael Sheen (as Aziraphale): “I think I may have just started a war.”

David Tennant (as Crowley): “Oh! Hell won’t like that.”

Good Omens Season 2 premieres Friday on Prime Video.

‘Oppenheimer’ stars Murphy, Blunt and Damon share tips on prepping to see new historical epic https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/oppenheimer-stars-murphy-blunt-and-damon-share-tips-on-prepping-to-see-new-historical-epic/ Sat, 22 Jul 2023 02:00:15 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1341157 Summer is in full swing, and you know what that means: scorching heat. It also means big summer blockbusters at the movie. Christopher Nolan’s epic historical thriller “Oppenheimer” is in theaters now, but before blasting into the box office, the cast sat down with Deco for a little coffee talk.

(These interviews were conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike.)

Cillian Murphy (as J. Robert Oppenheimer): “This is a national emergency.”

Josh Zuckerman (as Rossi Lomanitz): “Detonators charged.”

A blast from the past is gearing up for an explosive weekend at the box office.

Cillian Murphy (as J. Robert Oppenheimer): “This is a matter of life and death. I can perform this miracle.”

“Oppenheimer” tells the story behind the creation of the atomic bomb and the scientist who changed the course of human history.

Matt Damon (as Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves): “Are we saying there’s a chance that when we push that button, we destroy the world?”

Cillian Murphy (as J. Robert Oppenheimer): “Chances are near zero.”

Matt Damon (as Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves): “Near zero?”

Matt Damon plays a military man in the movie, but in real life, he’s totally a Deco Drive dude.

Matt Damon: “Deco Drive!”

Emily Blunt: “You know Deco Drive?”

Matt Damon: “Come on, I lived in Miami for five, six years.”

Emily Blunt: “True. What happens on Deco Drive?”

Matt Damon: “Oh, it’s a magazine.”

(Cue sad trombone.)

It’s OK, Matt. We forgive you, even if Emily Blunt doesn’t.

Emily Blunt: “He doesn’t know Miami.”

Matt Damon: “I haven’t lived there for 10 years. No, for 12 years.”

Sounds like someone’s overdue for a visit.

Matt Damon (as Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves): “They have a 12-month head start.”

Cillian Murphy (as J. Robert Oppenheimer): “Eighteen.”

Matt Damon (as Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves): “How could you possibly know that?”

The movie is out now, and if you’re planning to see it, Emily, Matt and Cillian Murphy, who plays Oppie, have some ideas about how you should pregame before seeing it.

Cillian Murphy: “Work out some terrifically hard scientific calculations?”

Just kidding!

Cillian Murphy: “Martinis. He liked martinis.”

Emily Blunt: “He loved a martini. I mean, Oppenheimer was famous for making an amazing martini in one of those vintage little martini glasses where it goes down like water, and before you know it, you’re acting like Matt Damon on a Saturday night.”

Matt Damon: “Your world’s gone pink.”

Emily’s got some advice, though.

Emily Blunt: “Have a martini maybe after you see ‘Oppenheimer.'”

Matt Damon: “Yeah, definitely after. You’ll need one.”

Emily Blunt: “You’re gonna need one.”

Kenneth Branagh (as Niels Bohr): “You are the man who gave them the power to destroy themselves. And the world is not prepared.”

Cillian Murphy (as J. Robert Oppenheimer): “What’s next?”

Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon and Emily Blunt share experiences about historical thriller movie ‘Oppenheimer’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/cillian-murphy-matt-damon-and-emily-blunt-share-experiences-about-historical-thriller-movie-oppenheimer/ Tue, 18 Jul 2023 00:40:27 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1339629 It may only be Monday but I’m already looking forward to the weekend.

I know what you mean and part of that is because a big blockbuster is blasting into theaters this weekend.

Oppenheimer is just days away from hitting the movie screen and Deco got to chat with the stars of the new movie.

These interviews were conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Cillian Murphy (as J. Robert Oppenheimer): “We’re in a race against the Nazis. And I know what it means- if the Nazis have a bomb.”

Things are getting explosive in the new historical thriller “Oppenheimer.”

Cillian Murphy as (Leslie Groves Jr.): “Are we saying there’s a chance that when we push that button, we destroy the world?

Cillian Murphy (as J. Robert Oppenheimer): “Chances are near zero.”

Matt Damon as (Leslie Groves Jr.): “Near zero?”

Cillian Murphy leads an all-star cast as the title scientist in the film about the creation of the atomic bomb.

Cillian Murphy: “Every day you’d have these phenomenal actors turning up. So every day was a blast.”

It’s a role he says he fully immersed himself in.

Cillian Murphy: “When I’m in it, I’m just in it.”

In fact, Cillian would get so into it, he tells Deco he wouldn’t even wind down after a long day of filming!

Cillian Murphy: “I don’t really do that during the body of the movie. I then, tend to have a really long break afterward and not work for six or eight months.”

Oppenheimer was a reunion of sorts, Cillian and Emily Blunt, who plays his wife in the movie, worked together on “A Quiet Place 2.”

While she and co-star Matt Damon go way back.

Matt Damon: “That’s, that’s a way of saying we’re good friends.”

I mean, when you’ve been pals for over a decade, there’s gotta be some fun nicknames involved, right?

Emily Blunt: “I call him Diamond.”

Matt Damon: “Diamond!”

Emily Blunt: “Diamond. Mattimus, he gets sometimes.”

Matt Damon: “I call her Em, or I call her Blunty.”

Emily Blunt: “But when you say Blunty, it has to be in an English accent.”

Matt Damon: “Blunty, it’s my bad English accent.”

Emily Blunt: “Or we call each other darling.”

Cillian Murphy (as J. Robert Oppenheimer): “This is a matter of life and death. I can perform this miracle.”

Oppenheimer may be a biographical film but the cast hopes that despite a lot of people knowing how the story ends, fans will be left with questions.

Cillian Murphy: “I hope it kinda gets people thinking about the world we live in, today.”

Matt Damon: “It’s very very emotional and thought-provoking, and it’s about the most important thing that happened in the last 100 years.”

Emily Blunt: “It’s like one of those movies that has a lasting effect on people. And I want that, for this film to be thought-provoking for weeks to come.”

Robert Downey Jr. (as Lewis Strauss): “Truman needs to know what’s next?”

Cillian Murphy (as J. Robert Oppenheimer): ” What’s next.”

Oppenheimer starts screenings on Thursday.

Caviar & Bubbles: Smith & Wollensky celebrates National Caviar Day with unique tasting experience https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/caviar-bubbles-smith-wollensky-celebrates-national-caviar-day-with-unique-tasting-experience/ Sat, 15 Jul 2023 01:18:32 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1338901 There’s a national day of celebration for just about everything these days, and next Tuesday’s a little fishy, but in a good way.

National Caviar Day is just around a corner. Deco’s checking out a local spot that’s making it a real splash.

Larry David: “You’re really going to town on that caviar.”

Christian Slater: “It’s the best caviar they could possibly get. It’s unbelievable.”

Larry David: “I know.”

Christian Slater: ” What do you think, I’m really gonna pass this up?”

Larry David: “I think you’re going over your allotment a little bit.”

Christian Slater: “My allotment?”

Larry David: “You know, we’re each entitled to take a certain amount, so everybody else can have a little bit, too.”

You don’t have to worry about counting caviar, because it’s flowing at Smith & Wollensky on South Beach.

Henry Delgado: “Smith & Wollensky has been part of South Beach for the last 26 years. Primarily we’re a steakhouse, but we serve seafood.”

In this case, “seafood” means the fancy stuff.

Goldie Hawn (as Joanna): “Caviar should be round and hard and of adequate size, and it should burst in your mouth at precisely the right moment.”

She’s got a point. That’s why the restaurant is celebrating National Caviar Day on Tuesday with a unique tasting experience.

Henry Delgado: “It used to be that caviar was only served during special occasions. We want to change that. We want people just to have it because they want to have a great time.”

The Caviar & Bubbles menu is all about presenting the delicacy in different ways.

Henry Delgado: “For our Caviar & Bubbles experience, we have a selection of three different caviars from around the world.”

There’s traditional bumps.

Henry Delgado: “You can have it three ways. You can have it on a blini, you can have it on a raw oyster., or you can have it with a mother of pearl spoon.”

The conventional route serves the caviar with egg whites, yolks, capers, shallots, parsley and creme fraiche. Gotta love having options!

And, for those looking for something a little different…

Henry Delgado: “One of the presentations that we have would be a charred onion dip. We also have crispy chicken skins, and we have unflavored potato chips that are made in-house. We just want you to add a scoop of the onion dip, top it with some caviar, and off it goes.”

All of these options are meant to be enjoyed with bubbles, in the form of wine and Champagne. Cheers to that!

Marcela Broughal: “I’ve had caviar before but never like this. The dip and the potato chips and the chicken skin, which I’ve never had anything like that, I loved it. It was very good.”

The Caviar & Bubbles experience starts at $85, but varies depending on your order. If you grab a glass of sparkling wine on Tuesday, you get a complimentary caviar bump.

Robert Downey Jr. (as Lewis Strauss): “Truman needs to know what’s next.”

Cillian Murphy: “My 15-year-old kid saw it, and he was knocked out and was very, very curious about all that time in history, and its relevance to today.”

Robert Downey Jr.: “I’ve never been in a film that is this big and this small, because it’s something that we’re all really thinking about.”

Cillian Murphy (as J. Robert Oppenheimer): “The world will remember this day.”

Tom Cruise surprises fans at screening of new ‘Mission: Impossible’ at AMC Sunset Place https://wsvn.com/entertainment/tom-cruise-surprises-fans-at-screening-of-new-mission-impossible-at-amc-sunset-place/ Wed, 12 Jul 2023 22:58:10 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1337980 Tom Cruise’s mission to promote his latest action film across the country, and he has chosen to accept it, brought him to South Florida.

Cruise pulls off all kinds of crazy stunts in “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One,” the seventh film in the franchise, but the best one happened Tuesday night, when he surprised fans at a screening of the film at AMC Sunset Place.

The Oscar nominee, who turned 61 earlier this month, was accompanied by his “Dead Reckoning” director, Christopher McQuarrie.

Announcer: “Please welcome the director and writer of the film, Christopher McQuarrie, and Ethan Hunt himself, actor and producer Tom Cruise.”

Christopher McQuarrie: “We’ve been making movies together for 16 years. Wrote this, directed this. That’s why my hair is this color. He’s tried to kill me several times, but I’ve lived so far, so that’s pretty good. I have plans for the future.”

As for Cruise, he even stopped to chat with some of the fans in attendance, signing autographs and taking selfies.

Cellphone video captured a fan interacting with the A-lister.

“We’ve been fans of yours since ‘Risky Business,'” said the fan.

“Thank you,” replied Cruise.

Mission: accomplished.

“Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One is out now in theaters.

Bird Box Barcelona: Moves the action from US to Spain, Georgina Campbell and Diego Calva are excited to share their experience https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/bird-box-barcelona-moves-the-action-from-us-to-spain-georgina-campbell-and-diego-calva-are-excited-to-share-their-experience/ Wed, 12 Jul 2023 00:36:03 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1337598 A few years ago, Bird Box had people all over the internet rocking blindfolds and trying to recreate scenes from the hit film.

Get ready for a repeat! On Netflix that is, Deco’s Alex Miranda, who’s flyer than any bird, is here.

A new Bird Box movie is coming to Netflix later this week and this time, the action and the horror are all going down in Europe!

Georgina Campbell (as Claire): “Stay close. Who’s there?”

The ‘Bird Box’ universe is going global, and we don’t mean on vacation.

Diego Calva (as Octavio): “What are you doing in Barcelona?

Georgina Campbell (as Claire): I found her, we’ve been traveling together. I’m trying to find her mother, What about you?”

The spin-off sequel, “Bird Box Barcelona,” moves the action from the US to Spain, where mysterious creatures continue to wreak havoc on anyone who looks at them.

Georgina Campbell (as Claire): “These things, take our fears, and twist them.”

Stars Georgina Campbell and Diego Calva love the idea of moving the movie abroad.

Georgina Campbell: “It’s such an interesting idea to go, ‘OK, let’s take this out of, say, America.’ I think it would be great if they can keep doing it and doing it in different countries and bringing, kind of, lots of different cultures into it.”

Diego Calva: “This is kind of genius because you can do another movie in every country, and everybody’s going to be, like, slightly different in the same universe but I’m hoping, ‘Bird Box Mexico’ for sure.”

Actor Mario Casas says switching locations also gave them the chance to incorporate other languages in the film.

Mario Casas: “Si Hablamos Castellano, I think it’s well very enjoyable in a film where we speak in Spanish, German and English. Georgina is there to speak English and well, you can get a dimension of how globalized things are, how we have a multicultural cast, and it tells you where we are as a society right, on TV shows and all. I enjoyed it so much, to work with three different languages.”

Bird Box was pretty scary but this film’s directors say the horror elements are just part of the story.

Àlex Pastor: “To make a successful, Bird Box movie beyond the blindfolds, what you need are compelling characters that you can relate to, and that you can, that you can empathize and suffer with. And, birds, and birds, you also need birds. “

But don’t worry, the chills and thrills are definitely still very much there.

Georgina Campbell: “When people are talking about horror as a genre and writing it, the longer you can put off seeing something, the better because your imagination is always gonna be way worse than what’s actually seen.”

You can catch Bird Box Barcelona on Netflix, Friday.

New crime thriller mini-series ‘Full Circle’ on Max, uncovers long-held secrets connecting multiple characters https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/new-crime-thriller-mini-series-full-circle-on-max-uncovers-long-held-secrets-connecting-multiple-characters/ Tue, 11 Jul 2023 01:18:08 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1337240 They say opposites attract so we’re going from all things pink, to dark and dramatic!

There’s a new crime mini-series dropping on Max this week and in the show, nothing is as it seems.

Franklin Ojeda Smith (as Woulghby): “The things happening to your family are happening for a reason.

Claire Daines (as Sam): “Hello?”

Timothy Olyphant (as Derek): “Who is this?”

Ominous voiceover: “We have your son.”

There’s trouble brewing in the Max mini-series, Full Circle.

Gerald Jones (as Louis): “What do you think happens next?

Adia. G (as Natalia): “They’re gonna kill that boy, but we’re gonna save him.”

The new crime thriller with an all-star cast deals with an investigation into a kidnapping that ends up connecting several characters and storylines sounds like a great way to get your detective on!

CCH Pounder (as Savitri Mahabir): “You do exactly what I’ve instructed you to do, and the balance will be restored.”

Working with director Steven Soderbergh wasn’t just a big deal for CCH Pounder and Timothy Olyphant, it was an eye-opening experience!

CCH Pounder: “If he’s got the thing if he sees it, he films it and he’s got it, he doesn’t need to do like, ‘It was so good, let’s just do it again for the heck of it!’ He has an economy of time that’s really quite remarkable in an industry that, you know, you see a lot of waste.”

Timothy Olyphant: “Acting usually has so much sitting around and sets are usually, takes hours and hours to shoot a scene to show up and shoot big scenes, dramatic scenes with people in tears and, and it’s over in minutes. It feels like some kind of athletic event.”

Zazie Beetz (as Harmony): “What is it with your family and secrets?

Claire Daines (as Sam): “You’re fishing.”

Zazie Beetz was also impressed by Soderbergh’s style and approach to film-making.

((“He really allows you to play, He really follows you with, with his camera and the choreography is between you and your co-star, and there’s something very, very liberating about that. And I think that’s why his stuff also feels very organic and real, and not so curated.”

CCH Pounder (as Savitri Mahabir): “Nobody knows the big picture. But you will. I promise.”

Full Circle will be on Max Original on July 13.

Stars on Mars: Natasha Leggero is back on planet Earth and shares her good memories from her intergalactic journey https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/stars-on-mars-natasha-leggero-is-back-on-planet-earth-and-shares-her-good-memories-from-her-intergalactic-journey/ Tue, 04 Jul 2023 00:17:27 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1334734 Natasha Leggero is back on planet Earth.

The comedian was one of two celebrity astronauts eliminated from “Stars on Mars”.

She has nothing but good memories from her intergalactic journey. Although at first, it was kinda hard to say goodbye, roger that.

AI: “Natasha and Tom you are not mission critical and must leave the hab immediately.”

Natasha Leggero: “Hey, I wanna come back please”

Natasha Leggero had a blast being part of the “Stars on Mars” crew.

But as much as she would’ve liked to stay, she was ready to leave.

Natasha Leggero: “It was a really fun experience, it was physically too challenging for me I’m not really into you know going past my physical boundaries.”

Now don’t get her wrong.

She says she was glad for the experience.

Natasha Leggero: “Intellectually that’s kinda what initially got me excited about it I mean, I was just really in over my head.”

Natasha Leggero: “Can somebody let me out”

One part of the gig ‘Tasha definitely didn’t like was wearing her space suit.

Natasha Leggero: “Hate that suit, they should all be burned, it’s so heavy, there’s a backpack and it’s like sixty pounds, and I can’t breathe.”

The comedian didn’t initially want to sign on to “Stars” for personal reasons.

Natasha Leggero: “I was so afraid to take this job because it was potentially three weeks away from my family and basically after three days away from your family you kind of forget about them.”

Okay, she’s obviously kidding around.

But while being a celebnaut was hard on her body, going to the angry red planet was a gas.

Natasha Leggero: “I think it was really positive for me to get outside my comfort zone.”

The crew always had to be camera-ready, no matter how much they tried to make it feel like home.

Natasha Leggero: “You would be in the hab just getting your morning coffee or you forgot one thing, and you came into the kitchen and all of a sudden there’d be this voice of god saying like “Natasha please put on your mic pack immediately”

Now that she’s a civilian, Natasha’s kicking back and watching the show just like the rest of us.

Natasha Leggero: “I’ve just been fascinated to watch the show, to see what it is?”

You can catch a new episode of Stars on Mars Monday at 8 p.m, right after Deco.

Showtime https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/showtime-344/ Sat, 01 Jul 2023 04:06:18 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1334083 Action, adventure and maybe a little trauma bonding. No, it’s not your nightly dose of Deco Drive. It’s just a taste of what this week’s new releases have to offer. It’s Showtime, folks!

Phoebe Walller-Bridge (as Helena): “Dad told me you found something, on the train during the war. A dial that could change the course of history.”

He’s baaaaack! Harrison Ford is wearing that famous fedora one last time in “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.”

For his last wild ride, Indy is racing against time to find a legendary artifact that could cause major chaos if it falls into the wrong hands.

Mel Gibson (as Kevin Hickey): “You’re about an inch away from getting bounced out of the IAB.”

Russell Richardson (as William Learner): “It’s our job to protect the community, uphold the law.”

Nick Stahl (as Mike Thorton): “Sometimes you gotta do a small wrong for a bigger right.”

There’s a lot on the line in the gritty crime thriller “Confidential Informant.” Two narc agents are on the hunt for a cop killer, but a deadly plan leads them to even more trouble.

Brian Cox (as Max): “In the time I have left, I would like to spend it with you.”

Kate Beckinsale (as Maxine): “I’ll do it on one condition: you pay me rent.”

Talk about daddy issues. Kate Beckinsale and Brian Cox are playing house in “Prisoner’s Daughter.”

Brian plays an terminally ill ex-con who’s trying to reconnect with his family. (Good luck.) It’s gonna take a lot to convince his daughter he’s a changed man.

Riz Ahmed (as Ballister Boldheart, voice): “Who are you?”

Chloë Grace Moretz (as Nimona, voice): “The name’s Nimona. Your sidekick has arrived.”

Riz Ahmed (as Ballister Boldheart, voice): “I don’t need a sidekick.”

Chloë Grace Moretz (as Nimona, voice): “Every villain needs a sidekick.”

Riz Ahmed (as Ballister Boldheart, voice): I’m not a villain!”

Dynamic duo or unlikely duo? In the animated sci-fi comedy “Nimona,” a knight who’s been framed for a crime is forced to team up with a shape-shifting teen to prove his innocence.

Problem is, he’s a monster he was sworn to destroy. Uh-oh!

Jane Fonda (as Grandmamah, voice): “The women in our family have the mighty power to turn into giant kraken.”

Lana Condor (as Ruby Gillman, voice): “What now?”

Jane Fonda (as Grandmamah, voice): “Ruby, you’re a princess!”

Princess problems meet high school stress in “Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.”

Ruby, voiced by Lana Condor, discovers she comes from a line of warrior kraken queens. Now she’s gotta use her powers to save the world from evil mermaids … and that’s no fish tale.

Jane Fonda (as Grandmamah, voice): “No matter what the challenge, a kraken will always answer the call.”

Lana Condor (as Ruby Gillman, voice): “It’s time to go big!”

Faux pas on purpose: Celebs show off intentional wardrobe malfunction fashion trend — and you can too https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/faux-pas-on-purpose-celebs-show-off-intentional-wardrobe-malfunction-fashion-trend-and-you-can-too/ Fri, 30 Jun 2023 01:08:01 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1333529 Accidents happen, but accidents involving clothing are on a whole other level.

They can be really embarrassing, but they don’t have to be anymore. Deco’s checking out a fashion trend where mishap means style.

Some wardrobe malfunctions are a total accident.

John Michael Higgins (as John): “She has no underwear on. We have a commando situation. There is a commando situation on stage!”

I mean, things happen, but these days, fashion faux pas are being done with intention.

Celebrities are showing more than just skin on the red carpet, which is the whole point of the intentional wardrobe malfunction trend.

Genavieve Villar, Private Label Styles: “The idea behind this trend is underwear poking out through your outfit, but done on purpose.”

From Sydney Sweeney to Olivia Rodrigo, and even Charlize Theron, these looks are spicing things up.

And, thanks to Private Label Styles…

Genavieve Villar: “Private Label Styles is a lifestyle boutique in Miami, and we specialize in special occasion and custom clothing for women.”

You can rock them, too.

Genavieve Villar: The easiest way that we can apply this trend is by contrast or textures. So we can have a dress that’s white with a red bra underneath.”

High contrast also applies to accent pieces, like pairing metallics with sheers, studs with lace, or adding a little charm to draw some attention.

Genavieve Villar: “The thing about the intentional wardrobe malfunction trend is, you can really make it your own.”

That applies to casual styles, too.

Genavieve Villar: “The easiest way to rock this trend is with crochet. Crochet will be your best friend. Crochet is already see-through, so whatever you’re wearing underneath will already come out.”

Easy peasy! Oh, and if this trend is giving you some major Madonna-style flashbacks, TV host Melissa Rivers says it’s supposed to.

Melissa Rivers: “This is not some original fashion moment. With fashion, everything is cyclical, so, you know, what goes around comes around.”

Home away from home: Amanda Seyfried gives tour of her New York City apartment https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/home-away-from-home-amanda-seyfried-gives-tour-of-her-new-york-city-apartment/ Thu, 29 Jun 2023 00:05:19 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1333104 Nothing says home sweet home like adding your own personal touch to a space, and when you’re a celeb, you probably have a little more space to work with than the average Joe.

Tonight, we’re getting a look inside of Amanda Seyfried’s New York City pad.

Amanda Seyfried: “Hi, [Architectural Digest]. I’m Amanda Seyfried, and this is my New York City apartment, and I’d love to show it to you.”

Amanda Seyfried: “What I wanted here was something that felt natural, and I just feel so at peace here in the big city, feeling like we’re slightly home.”

Amanda Seyfried: “This kitchen is open, very airy, very, very light. Honestly, I don’t know what this is, but my husband wanted it, never used it.”

Amanda Seyfried: “We use this space wisely. We use this space more than any other space because it’s the TV room. I’ll be honest, we never close these. I only closed these for you. This guy is essential for watching ‘Dateline’ with your husband after your kids go to bed.”

Amanda Seyfried: “And that’s it. That’s my big living space, and then things get pretty narrow after this “

Amanda Seyfried: “I have a hallway, which is not something I’ve had before. It’s really long, and finding a rug that was long enough was so hard.”

Amanda Seyfried: “This is my bedroom, this is the only room that has 12-foot ceilings, and I don’t know why.”

Amanda Seyfried: “I’ve never had two doors, so this is a secret, it’s a secret. That is another exit, just in case. I thought that was really fun, I love secrets.”

Amanda Seyfried: “I have to show you my bathroom because it’s the best bathroom I’ve ever experienced as my own. It’s so crazy bright, it’s so beautiful. The tiles are the perfect color and, by NYC standards, it’s huge.”

Amanda Seyfried: “So that’s my home away from home, thank you for visiting. I hope you come back. I’ll see you later, A.D.”

Sherry Cola as Lolo: “Let’s find your birth mother.”

Ashley Park as Audrey: “Will you guys come with me?”

Sherry Cola as Lolo: “Yes bitch!”

Sherry Cola: “This film is funny first, and we just happen to be Asian these cultural specifics on the big screen are so special to us, and I can’t wait for everyone to just be mind blown, honestly because this is gonna drop every jaw in the audience.”

Sherry Cola as Lolo: “Deadeye’s coming by the way.”

Ashley Park as Audrey: “Your cousin?”

Sherry Cola as Lolo: “Deadeye?”

Stephanie Hsu as Kat: “Where did that come from? You know I think I get it.”

Sabrina Wu: “They are a sex icon, I will continue to say that they’re a person who has always been true to themselves, is like unafraid to be unique, and is looking for people who really get them and accept them for who they are.”

Stephanie Hsu as Kat: “Our passports are in my suitcase, that got stolen.”

Sabrina Wu as Deadeye: “You know who can bypass airport security? K-pop stars.”

Sabrina Wu as Deadeye: Everyone remembers their names.”

Ashley Park as Audrey: “Sassy”

Sherry Cola as Lolo: “Cutie”

Stephanie Hsu as Kat: “Lisa”

Sabrina Wu as Deadeye: “Lisa 2”

Ashley Park: “The best kind of comedy opens up people’s hearts to be able to receive a different conversation or connection to the heart and meaning of a character.”

Sherry Cola: “You need that rowdiness, you gotta get a group of friends, you gotta get maybe tipsy beforehand because you’re gonna have the best time in those seats. You might not even stay in those seats, you might have to take a lap after some of the scenes.”

Sabrina Wu as Deadeye: “You’re a fan of Cardi B, right?”

Ashley Park as Audrey: “Yeah, Is she here?”

‘No Hard Feelings’ stars Jennifer Lawrence and Andrew Barth Feldman say they bonded while making odd-couple comedy https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/no-hard-feelings-stars-jennifer-lawrence-and-andrew-barth-feldman-say-they-bonded-while-making-odd-couple-comedy/ Sat, 24 Jun 2023 01:42:55 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1331604 There’s young, and then there’s young at heart. Then there’s the absolute cringe, twisted chaos in a new flick out now in theaters. Jennifer Lawrence and Andrew Barth Feldman are playing one odd couple in their new movie “No Hard Feelings.”

Jennifer Lawrence (as Maddie Barker): “I’m an Uber driver, and I don’t have a car. I’m gonna lose my house. You think I chose this?”

Desperate times call for desperate measures in the new comedy “No Hard Feelings.”

Jennifer Lawrence (as Maddie Barker, reading ad): “‘Need a car? Date our son this summer and bring him out of his shell before college. In exchange, we’ll give you a Buick Regal. ‘Date’ is in quotes.”

Scott MacArthur (as Jim): “Bet that means sex.”

Jennifer Lawrence plays Maddie, an Uber driver who makes a deal to date and seduce an introverted 19-year-old in exchange for some wheels.

But Andrew Barth Feldman’s Percy has no idea any of it is real. Cue the craziness.

Jennifer Lawrence (as Maddie Barker): “Whatcha got down there, something for me?”

Andrew Barth Feldman (as Percy Becker, spraying Maddie with pepper spray): “Ahhhhhh!”

Nothing says bonding like a little pepper spray, am I right?

Jennifer Lawrence: “I’ve walked away from a lot of movies having a great time but didn’t walk away with, like, a friend for life, and that is what happened with me and Andrew.”

Andrew Barth Feldman: “It was pretty instantly like a special relationship.”

Maddie and Percy’s budding friendship and fake relationship is pretty unconventional, but it does lead to some funny firsts.

Jennifer Lawrence (Maddie Barker): “He’ll have a Long Island iced tea.”

Andrew Barth Feldman (as Percy Becker, spitting out drink): “This is the worst iced tea I’ve ever had.”

First drink, anyone?

Jennifer Lawrence: “I think it was a Budweiser. I drank a Budweiser with my brother and his friends.”

Andrew Barth Feldman: “It was like always, like, gross, like Malibu or Fireball.”

Jennifer Lawrence: “Fireball?”

Andrew Barth Feldman: “Yeah, that was all that I – like, that was the cool thing to do, and it was a disgusting thing to do to my body.”

Now, of course Maddie and Percy’s age gap definitely plays a major role in the film.

Victor Vernaeghe (as Party Dad): “That’s it. Come on, you don’t belong here.”

Jennifer Lawrence (Maddie Barker): “I don’t belong here? You don’t belong here!”

Victor Vernaeghe (as Party Dad): “You don’t belong at a high school party.”

But come on, dude! Don’t make JLaw feel old.

Jennifer Lawrence: “One of my friends’ kids said — I was talking about somewhere that I had just been — and she said, ‘Yeah, a lot of my friends’ grandmas go there.’ Grandmas. Not just moms, grandmas. I don’t get carded anymore, either, and it’s painful.”

Ouch! OK, OK, let’s wipe the slate with a fun, old-school memory instead: high school-style superlatives!

Andrew Barth Feldman: “I think you’d obviously be like most beautiful.”

Jennifer Lawrence: “Andrew! That’s so nice of you to say.”

Andrew Barth Feldman: “But also, like, most organized. I think you’re very organized, and you have a clear path of what you wanna do.”

Jennifer Lawrence: “Oh, wow. Andrew would be most likely to tap dance off a cliff.”

Andrew Barth Feldman: “Yeah, I think that’s right.”

Jennifer Lawrence (Maddie Barker): “The best part about getting older is not having to care about what people think.”

“No Hard Feelings” is now playing in theaters.

Winner of BreakinMIA’s ‘Undefeated’ dance battle will walk away with $1K cash https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/winner-of-breakinmias-undefeated-dance-battle-will-walk-away-with-1k-cash/ Fri, 23 Jun 2023 00:45:54 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1331166 When you think of dance battles, The movies “Step Up” and “Bring It On” might come to mind. But this weekend, dancers from several styles will fight for their way to the top, And you’re invited to watch.

Don’t worry, I can’t breakdance, either … but I did learn how we can all support our local breakers to make it to the 2024 Paris Games.

Dance battles aren’t just for the movies.

Sergio Garcia: “All right, Alex, we’re going to show you how to spin on your head today.”

[Alex laughs.]

BreakinMIA’s “Undefeated,” this Saturday in Dania Beach, is the real thing.

Sergio Garcia: “There’s breakdancers. There’s house dancers. There’s lightfoot. There’s popping. There’s locking.”

Sergio Garcia, aka Zeku, is a 2024 breakdancing Olympic hopeful.

Sergio Garcia: “I’ve been dedicating my whole life to this. I know nothing else. I put every single ounce of effort that I have into trying to secure a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.”

And is emceeing the high-energy event, which starts with a preliminary round of 50 dancers.

Sergio Garcia: “And the top 16 will go to a top 8. The top 8 go into a top 4, which is the semifinals, and then you have the final battle.”

That sounds intense!

Sergio Garcia: “Hopefully walk away with $1,000 and, of course, the bragging rights.”

Now, it’s all going down at MADArts.

Marc Aptakin: “It’s literally a playground for artists and technologists.”

No, really. This place is mad.

Marc Aptakin: “We just get to play all day, so nothing better than that.”

And do good! The artists here have teamed up with BreakinMIA to help create NFTs using motion capture technology, to help fundraise for their Olympic dreams.

Sergio Garcia: “It’s very exciting to be able to showcase what breaking or hip-hop can do for a child’s life, you know, the positive impacts that it has.”

I wanna play with this thingamajig thing.

Alex Miranda: “You guys didn’t have to make this so cute. Like, I feel like I’m wearing Lululemon.”

Roy Husdell: “This is actually Sergio dancing in the exact same outfit that you’re wearing, a Vicon motion capture suit. You’ll be able to see yourself, like, moving and breathing. It’s really high level.”

Alex Miranda: “So, what do you use this technology for?”

Roy Husdell: “Animation, games, that kind of stuff.”

Hollywood uses motion capture for “Avatar,” for example.

But, like Sergio, I’m thinking of dance.

The show starts at 5 pm, and tickets are $15.

Sergio Garcia: Miami needed this, you know, like, Florida needs this.”

‘Outlander’ stars reflect on long road leading to Season 7 of beloved historical drama https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/outlander-stars-reflect-on-long-road-leading-to-season-7-of-beloved-historical-drama/ Sat, 17 Jun 2023 00:37:32 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1329047 The wait is over, “Outlander” fans. Season 7 of the beloved historical drama premieres on Starz on Friday, but before traveling back in time, the stars of the show are dishing with Deco about what we can expect.

Sam Heughan (as Jamie Fraser): “I’m not as brave as I was before, ye ken? Not brave enough to live without you anymore.”

The stakes are higher than ever in Season 7 of the hit Starz series “Outlander.”

Sophie Skelton (Brianna Randall Fraser): “There’s unrest in the streets, if you hadn’t noticed.”

Character in “Outlander”: “Washington desperately needs soldiers up at Fort Ticonderoga.”

Sam Heughan and Caitríona Balfe are back as Jamie and Claire … and a looming rebellion is about to take the show to the next level.

Caitríona Balfe: “The Revolutionary War is here. We have amazing battles, and it just does feel really, really epic.”

Sam Heughan: “It was kind of surprising to see how much we’ve actually managed to pack into one season.”

War isn’t the only thing causing trouble, though.

Caitríona Balfe: “Claire, we left her in prison, and we find her still in prison.”

Sam Heughan: “Yes, not the best place.”

Caitríona Balfe: “We see Jamie try to rescue her.”

Sam Heughan: “Yeah, and I think her salvation comes from a very, shall I say, unexpected place.”

“Outlander” premiered back in 2014, but the characters and their story have been a part of Sam and Caitríona’s lives for nearly 10 years.

Caitríona Balfe: “They’re not as young as they once were.”

Sam Heughan: “Are you saying Jamie’s getting old? Is that what you’re saying? Jamie’s looking older this season.”

Caitríona Balfe: “He’s not as fit as he once was.”

Sam Heughan: “He’s not.”

Sam, look in the mirror. I don’t think you have anything to worry about in that department.

Sam Heughan: “Thank God. Thank you. I mean, he is getting a little long in the tooth. But you know, he’s still got it.”

Caitríona Balfe: “Still got it.”

Sam Heughan: “Still got it.”

Speaking of still having it, “Outlander” has a huge following. Maybe it’s a comfort thing.

Caitríona Balfe (as Claire Randall Fraser): “You’ll come back to me. You always do.”

So, we had to ask Sam and Caitríona about their comfort shows and movies.

Caitríona Balfe: “Anything kind of with Audrey Hepburn in it is usually – if you’re feeling sick, that will cheer you up.”

Sam Heughan: “Mmmm. Oh, you like the classics.”

Caitríona Balfe: “Yeah.”

Sam Heughan: “‘Friends’ is – something about it.”

Caitríona Balfe: “Yeah. It’s a comfort blanket.”

Sam Heughan: “It’s a comfort, and you can have it on in the background.”

Takes comfort characters to know comfort characters, am I right?

Sam Heughan: “I’m glad that we’re now people’s comfort.”

Caitríona Balfe: “We’re like two ratty old blankets.”

Sam Heughan: “Which you can curl up with and feel better about yourself.”

Caitríona Balfe: “Mm-hmm.”

Caitríona Balfe (as Claire Randall Fraser): “We will make it back here one day, won’t we?”

Sam Heughan (as Jamie Fraser): “Aye, sassenach.”

Season 7 of “Outlander” premieres Friday night.

Showtime https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/showtime-342/ Sat, 17 Jun 2023 00:27:53 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1329028 What do superheroes, the four elements and Chris Hemsworth have in common? If you guessed that they’re all featured in this week’s new releases, you win!

Sorry, tonight’s grand prize is just a big hug. Here is tonight’s Showtime.

Ben Affleck (as Bruce Wayne/Batman): “If you were to go into the past, you’d have no idea what the consequences could be.”

Ezra Miller (as Barry Allen/The Flash: “Bruce, I could fix things.”

Ben Affleck (as Bruce Wayne/Batman): “You could also destroy everything.”

Flash forward? More like Flash back!

In DC’s latest superhero flick, “The Flash,” Ezra Miller uses his powers to change his family’s fate.

But messing with history ends up creating a world without the heroes he knows. Now he’s gotta team up with a different Batman and Supergirl to save the future.

Mamoudou Athie (as Wade Ripple, voice): “So you’ve never left Fire Town?

Leah Lewis (as Ember Lumen, voice): Sorry, buddy, elements don’t mix. Plus my dad would boil you alive.”

Mamoudou Athie (as Wade Ripple, voice): “Why does anyone get to tell you what you can do in your life?”

Now that’s what I call being in your element!

In Disney and Pixar’s “Elemental,” fire girl Ember and water boy Wade make an unexpected connection and quickly discover just how much they have in common.

Antoinette Robertson (as Lisa, reading): “‘In your predicament, the Black character is always the first to die. I will spare your lives if you sacrifice the person you deem the blackest.'”

The horror-comedy trope gets flipped on its head in “The Blackening.”

A group of friends on vacay get trapped in a cabin with a killer and his twisted game. Now they gotta rely on their street smarts and slasher movie knowledge to survive.

Shein Mompremier (as Rose): “She’ll do anything to keep you. The blackouts, the headaches. They’re only getting worse, right? “

Talk about feeling like you’re going out of your mind.

In the horror thriller “Jagged Mind,” a young woman is dealing with weird blackouts and visions.

And, in case that wasn’t scary enough, they could be connected to her mysterious new girlfriend. Yikes!

Golshifteh Farahani (as Nik Khan): “You were clinically dead nine months ago, but you survived. You fought your way back.”

He’s back! Chris Hemsworth is alive and kicking in “Extraction 2.”

This time, he’s taking on the dangerous mission of saving a ruthless gangster’s family. Good luck, buddy!

Chris Hemsworth as (Tyler Rake): “You told me to find the reason I fought my way back.”

Harrison Ford reunites with ‘Indiana Jones’ co-stars at ‘Dial of Destiny’ Hollywood premiere https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/harrison-ford-reunites-with-indiana-jones-co-stars-at-dial-of-destiny-hollywood-premiere/ Fri, 16 Jun 2023 00:31:34 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1328583 It’s almost the end of an era. Harrison Ford is donning the iconic fedora and whip one last time in “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.”

But before Indy’s final bow, Harrison and the cast had another mission to handle: the Hollywood premiere of their new movie … and hopefully no rolling boulders anywhere in sight.

Announcer: “Mr. Harrison Ford, Indiana Jones!”

Harrison Ford: “I’m celebrating this film and this installment, but I’m also celebrating all of those people who have kept us making these movies for 42 years.”

Harrison Ford (as Indiana Jones): “Those days have come and gone.”

John Rhys-Davies (as Sallah): “Perhaps, perhaps not.”

Harrison Ford: “Last time we did this particular one was 1985. Dear Lord. I was a young boy then “

Phoebe Waller-Bridge (as Helena Shaw): “Dad told me you found something, on the train during the war. A dial that could change the course of history.”

Phoebe Waller-Bridge: “We’ve been sitting on this film for so long. I’m so excited for it to come out, and it’s such a ride, and it’s such an adventure.”

Mads Mikkelsen (as Jürgen Voller): “With this, we will have our victory.”

Harrison Ford (as Indiana Jones): It’s not yours. You stole it.”

Mads Mikkelsen (as Jürgen Voller): “Then you stole it.”

Mads Mikkelsen: “This is a real Indiana Jones film, another one. We get all the roller coaster stuff, but we’ve got something new here, I think.”

Mads Mikkelsen (as Jürgen Voller): “Dr. Jones. Get him!”

Boyd Holbrook: “He’s just a relatable hero, and I think what they’ll find the most, I hope, is just a moving and touching story.”

Character in “Indiana Jones and the Dual of Destiny”: “Indy!”

John Rhys-Davies (as Sallah): “Give ’em hell, Indiana Jones!”

John Rhys-Davies: “I must have met at least 500 people who are archaeologists or museum curators, all of whom say, ‘If it hadn’t been for Indiana Jones, we would never have done this.'”

Toby Jones: “I’m very proud to be part of this, and I think it’s probably the most emotional of the films.”

Karen Allen: It’s delightful to be a part of this one, and delightful particularly in the way in which they brought my character back.”

Phoebe Waller-Bridge (as Helena Shaw): “You’ve taken your chances, made your mistakes, and now a final triumph!”

Mads Mikkelsen: “It appeals to everyone. I mean, my generation, my parents, my kids. Can’t wait to show it to my grand kids.”

Harrison Ford: “We’ve gone from generation to generation, through the agency of family. I mean, you can’t ask for anything more.”

Harrison Ford (as Indiana Jones): “I’ve been tortured with voodoo. I’ve been shot nine times, including once by your father.”

Toby Jones (as Basil Shaw): “Sorry!”

Harrison Ford: “I really hope that they like our movie.”

Harrison Ford (as Indiana Jones): “I’ve been looking for this all my life.”

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny hits theaters June 30.

Stars of Disney and Pixar’s ‘Elemental’ prove why they are best fire-and-water pair https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/stars-of-disney-and-pixars-elemental-prove-why-they-are-best-fire-and-water-pair/ Thu, 15 Jun 2023 00:19:01 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1328005 Sweet and sour. Salt and caramel. Pink and black. Good combinations happen when opposites attract. Just don’t ask my exes

Fire and water might not be two things you immediately think can go together, but the stars of Disney and Pixar’s “Elemental” are here to prove why they’re the perfect pair.

Talk about being in your element!

Leah Lewis (as Ember Lumen, voice): “Air usually has their head in the clouds. Earth can be a little seedy. Water is always getting into something. And Fire, we run a little hot.”

In Disney and Pixar’s new animated film “Elemental,” Fire, Water, Earth and Air residents live together in the same city.

But not necessarily in harmony.

Leah Lewis (as Ember Lumen): “We all live by one simple rule: elements cannot mix.”

But the rules kinda go out the window when the fiery Ember, voiced by Leah Lewis, neets Mamoudou Athie’s water guy Wade.

OK, OK, fire and water, elements, this totally begs the question: what’s your sign?

Mamoudou Athie: “Oh, yeah, I’m a Scorpio.”

Leah Lewis: “Sagittarius.”

All right, but how much do you actually relate to that?

Mamoudou Athie: “Listen, the rumors are true. That’s all I gotta say. You know, Scorpios. Come on, guys, you gonna make me spell it out?”

Leah Lewis: “I could see it. I could see it.”

Leah Lewis: “Sagittarius, I definitely embody some of the fiery aspects of it. Very strong and free, but I am a very emotional person.”

Astrology aside, “Elemental” is all about connection.

So we wanted to know what part of Ember and Wade Leah and Mamoudou connected to the most.

Leah Lewis: “She is incredibly tender with the way that she treats her family, and I love that she loves the people that she cares about so, so much.”

Mamoudou Athie: “He’s just a really good guy, and there’s nothing manipulative about it. He’s not, like, conning anybody.”

Disney and Pixar are no strangers when it comes to emotional movie moments.

I mean…

Tom Hanks (as Woody, voice): “So long, pardner.”

Anthony Gonzalez (as Miguel, voice, singing): “Though I have to say goodbye.”

[“Up’s” Carl Fredricksen gazes at picture of him and his late wife.]

Mamoudou Athie:”I love Carl. I love Carl from ‘Up.’ He’s my guy, so anything involving him. “

“Up” is a good one, but for Leah, it’s “Inside Out.”

Richard Kind (as Bing Bong, voice): “Go save Riley. Take her to the moon for me.”

That cues the waterworks. Literally.

Leah Lewis: “Bing Bong, like, throws himself off the cart and says, ‘Take her to the moon,’ and I don’t wanna talk about it anymore. His ‘take her to the moon?'”

Mamoudou Athie: “OK, hold on.”

[Leah fans her eyes.]

Disney and Pixar’s “Elemental” hits theaters on Friday.
